Franchise lawyer receives honour in UK fi rst


u Leading UK franchise lawyer John Pratt of Hamilton Pratt has become the fi rst non-US lawyer to receive the John Baer Award for International Civility and Professionalism at The American Bar Association’s Franchise Forum, held in Nashville on 10-12 October. John Baer was a past chair of


the International Bar Association’s International Franchising Committee. At the meeting – attended by approximately 900 franchise lawyers (the largest gathering ever held) – John Pratt said: “I was a close friend of John Baer and so to win this award in his name, means a great deal to me. “The receipt of the leading award for


any practitioner in international franchising is a great honour and is a testimony to the hard work and brilliance of the team here at Hamilton Pratt.”


NIC welcomes new franchise manager


u Contract cleaning franchise NIC Services Group has announced Louise Harris, former co-owner of Wilkins Chimney Sweep, as its new franchise network manager.


Louise has been involved in the


franchising industry for more than 12 years, as both a franchisee and franchisor, and was co-owner of Wilkins Chimney Sweep for eight years before recently selling the business. Louise is also a Qualifi ed Franchise Professional, which is a formal recognition of knowledge and experience in the franchising industry. Of her appointment, Louise says: “I


am very excited to be joining NIC; it is a well-established franchise business with very strong traditional values. It understands the importance of growth and development for both the franchise network and itself as a business.” John Pinnick, managing director for
