Driver Hire’s success story is all about using new technology. They realised that many areas were not making money, so they spent over £1 million on a new state of the art virtual recruitment system. This system lets job candidates do interviews and checks online, which saves time and makes their staff more productive.


To ensure a robust pool of job candidates, Driver Hire provides comprehensive marketing support to its franchisees. This includes securing cost-effective advertising opportunities, offering training in crafting effective job ads, and providing pre-designed campaigns tailored for both online platforms and social media. Driver Hire has a plan for their franchisees called the


‘Framework for Growth.’ This plan helps them focus on important tasks and use key performance indicators to track their progress. They also get weekly reports to help them see how they’re doing.


Driver Hire isn’t just about making money. They care about the community, too. They help students get ready for the future, sponsor breakfast clubs, and give to charity. Their staff also spend a day each year helping in their community, and they have a fund to help candidates’ families when they’re going through tough times.

Connor Ferguson Next Generation Franchisee


Connor Ferguson, the proud owner of Driver Hire Plymouth, defies the stereotype of the average franchisee. Taking over the franchise at the age of 26 in 2021, Connor brought a wealth of industry experience, marking his journey to franchise ownership with dedication, hard work, and a robust support system.


Breaking from the traditional academic path, Connor entered the business world directly, leaving school at 16 and pursuing a business administration and accounting course at his local college. Starting with an apprenticeship

at ServiceMaster, he found true alignment with his ambitions at Driver Hire, despite minimal knowledge of the recruitment industry. Eager to advance his career and make a difference, Connor joined the franchise.


Despite challenges from a hospitality-reliant local economy, Driver Hire Plymouth flourished under Connor’s leadership, generating nearly £3 million in annual turnover and providing consistent work for approximately 100 drivers each week.


Connor’s success owes much to the supportive Driver Hire franchise network, featuring


regular regional meetings, an area manager, and collaborative fellow franchisees. Recognising the value of this camaraderie, Connor acknowledges: “Being a franchisee has undoubtedly been beneficial. It’s gratifying when another franchisee seeks my advice.”
