Muscat Duty Free appoints Rob Marriott as GM; Mullen moves on Oman Air and Aer Rianta International Middle East joint venture Muscat Duty Free (MDF) has appointed Rob Marriott (pictured below) as new General Manager. Marriott took over the position in


March from Martin Mullen, who has assumed a new role with ARI at Abu Dhabi International Airport in preparation for its new Midfield Terminal Building opening. Boasting more than 35 years’ retail


experience, Marriott, who joined UK grocery chain Safeway (as it was then known) in 1984, is accountable for MDF’s operations. He reports directly to the Board. Previously, he was Regional MD


Southwest for UK grocery chain Morrisons, which acquired Safeways in 2004. There, he was responsible for a multi-million pound a week business with a network of 125 stores. After leaving in 2017, he spent time


with meat retailing business One Stop Halal as Head of Operations before being approached by MDF and moving to Oman. MDF opened its facilities at the $1.8bn New Muscat Airport in March last year.
