BRAND SPOTLIGHT: CABEAU
New products and strong partnerships to drive Cabeau in Europe & LatAm
Europe and Latin America are regions of focus as US-based travel accessories company Cabeau looks to take its duty free and travel retail business to the next level. Andrew Pentol reports from Los Angeles.
“This is because of its unique features and patterns and the fact your head will now be supported.” He added: “The S3 is really
where our focus will remain for travel comfort.” Attention will then turn to a
range of new products. Sternlight explained: “We have a couple of head support products we are working on and once again everything is innovative.” Offering a snapshot of the

T
ravel accessories company Cabeau has not only been fortunate enough to develop
a range of products such as the new Track & Shield smart lock, it has also had the ability to forge strong partnerships in DF&TR. The launch of new products
means these partnerships are only going to develop and ensure Cabeau’s business in the channel continues to flourish. Speaking to TRBusiness in Los
Angeles during the launch of Track & Shield, David Sternlight, CEO and Founder, Cabeau said: “The introduction of the Evolution S3 travel pillow last year really set us apart from some of the other travel pillows and travel comfort products on the market.

performance in Asia and the Pacific. “We are also starting to do exceptionally well in Europe but can always improve there. We really want to focus on the European and Latin American market,” he emphasised.
Challenging release Looking ahead to the roll-out of Track & Shield in GTR, there was still plenty of work to be done at the time of the interview. “This is our most challenging product release and we are still not finished,” said Sternlight. “We are currently working on the
online instruction manual for the app and addressing privacy concerns and laws in the United States and beyond. Different privacy laws exist in different places, so we have to account for that.” Ensuring the packaging is correct
so the product can be hung or stood flat was another concern. “These are all things we are working on behind the scenes,” said Sternlight. Another item on the agenda
was the ability to offer customers technical support 24-hours-a-day seven-days-a-week. “Hopefully we are not going to be
the ones directly answering those complicated technical questions,” said Sternlight.

“We are thinking globally, so a 24/7 technical support service is required.” Created with patented and patent-
pending GPS lock technology, Track & Shield is believed to be the only device that provides real-time global tracking of anyone or anything. It also has the ability to send text
messages almost anywhere and deliver geo and time stamps each time it is opened. Narrowband technology has been
implemented which dramatically extends texting abilities compared to mobile phones. The price of the device is $199
with a service fee of $50 per year or $6.99 per month. This enables use of all functions through an app. Reflecting on the origins of the
Track & Shield product, Sternlight recalled how it started out as a GPS luggage lock and turned into something ‘bigger and greater.’ “There have been years in the
company’s history when we were asked to create certain products, which were not necessarily the core of what we initially started to do. “Track & Shield represents around
a year-and-a-half of really diving into what was actually just an idea of being able to track your luggage.” «
