MEADFA renews faith in President Al Majali; elects new Board The Middle East and Africa Duty Free Association (MEADFA) has re-elected Jordanian Duty Free Shops CEO Haitham Al Majali as President. Elections of the Board for the new term,


which began in April and run until March 2021, took place during the Annual General Meeting last month at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai. In a statement, Al Majali thanked


outgoing Board Members and offered his best wishes to the new officers. “It’s a pleasure and honour to be elected


as the MEADFA President for the second time,” he said. “My sincere gratitude to the members for their trust.” Aside Al Majali, the new MEADFA Board


comprises the following: Sherif Toulan (Vice President), Tarek Hamila (Treasurer), Taleb Izmigna (Secretary General), Bernard Creed, Nuno Amaral, Nicolas Van Brandt, Alain Maingreaud, David Bisset, Karl Raphael and Felix Brunner.

Illva Saronno makes two key Asia appointments Illva Saronno has named Byron Tian (pictured above) as Area Director for North Asia and Matteo Scarevelli as Country Manager for Japan. Based in Shanghai, Tian will be responsible


for expanding the business across Greater China, including China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong, plus South Korea. Scarevelli will work out of Tokyo and is tasked with expanding and accelerating Illva Saronno’s business interests in Japan. Both report to Trent Russell, Regional


Director for APAC and Global Travel Retail. “With the recent appointments of Nikos
