TCSFS is clearly a major player in the core banking systems market and has won more than its fair share of stand-out deals (SBI, Bank of China, and more recently, Zions). The sum of the two parts – the FNS-derived Bancs and TKS-derived Quartz – was considerably stronger than the previous individual offerings, not something that could be said about all mergers and acquisitions in the banking software market by any means.
The two systems complemented each other quite well and TCSFS has thrown large numbers of developers at them, moving them forwards, as most reflected in the launch of the Java version of Bancs. Those resources also made for a stronger story when it came to deployment and, although not all projects have gone to plan, TCSFS seemed to have more success than the industry average in turning sales into live sites, albeit with reverses in the projects at Deutsche Bank and Ziraat Bank.
