Flexcube is a broad system with good depth of functionality in many areas and there was an important technical overhaul with R10 and R12. There is also the ability to bundle in other Oracle applications and hardware. The system has a large geographical presence, so is proven in many countries, and is backed up by a lot of resources, plus multiple partners. The system does appear to be relatively more expensive now compared with the independent I-flex Solutions days, including a tendency to seek to charge support and maintenance from when a contract is signed. Overall, the contract terms can be onerous, involving US Oracle lawyers. The lack of transparency related to the product roadmap is unhelpful at times and the system has not scaled into tier one and two banks beyond departmental or international operational use. That upper end segment is now meant to be address by OBP.
