Breakthrough fibre for skin care

A breakthrough discovery occurred in 2015, when scientists performed an enzymatic process on sugar found in the orange, they turned it into an edible fibre with unique properties. The result was both a polysaccharide and an oligosaccharide, characterised by exceptional, functional features. They found that not only

could the fibre penetrate into the epidermal layers of the skin, it could also aid in the rejuvenation of skin cells and promoting the activation of collagen secretion. This new fibre—JD Hydro

Boost, from Jojoba Desert— consists of 80% low molecular

mechanism, reformation, and secretion of Collagen-1. In order to replicate the new

fibre and to ensure the same stability, consistency and precise skin care benefits, a search for the ultimate sugar source led to cane sugar—which has become the basis for JD Hydro Boost. JD Hydro Boost provides a

weight (average 700 Da), and 20% high molecular weight (average 1000 kDa). Primarily LMW, repeated clinical and ex vivo studies have demonstrated the fibre’s ability to penetrate the upper the epidermal layers of the skin, promoting the activation of Extra-Cellular-Matrix

ISO standards. Granpowder BBP-700

provides sensory improvement to skin care, body care, colour cosmetics, and sun care formulations with effective low use levels of 1-5%. It has particle size average of 2-10µm. For sun care it can remove the greasy feel from

organic UV filters, and in anti- aging products offers soft focus properties. Granpowder BBP- 700 highly compliments naturally-derived Gransense elastomer technologies and is suggested to be used together in formulations for optimal performance.

Personal Care evolves with the industry EDITOR’S COMMENT

Your next issue of Personal Care in January 2021 will look a little different, but you will still recognise the wealth of in-depth technical articles, news and formulations that have brought Personal Care such success in Europe over the past 10 years. From 2021, Personal Care Global

will launch, bringing readers the latest personal care ingredient data in a single global edition printed ten times a year, covering all the topics that matter to formulators and assisting new product development. The evolution in Personal Care reflects the

market, with trends moving across regions with ever-increasing speed, and with it the need to access information from global sources. The design of the magazine will

also undergo a refresh, so we will be very excited to bring you the results of this in January and we look forward to hearing your feedback through our various social media channels and at industry events when they finally resume. If you have any material for consideration then please get in touch: richardscott@stepcomms.com.
