TENTPOLE GAMES PLAYSON - SOLAR QUEEN

How did the success of Solar Queen shape Playson's subsequent roadmap of titles? How influential was Solar Queen in setting Playson on the path to delivering more Egyptian games?

Te game set a new benchmark at Playson, it made us reevaluate what we were doing in terms of art, sounds and math. Regarding visuals, we know the Egyptian theme has been perfected by us and that we can produce fantastic content filled with captivating features, animations, and sound – with all this in mind we were reassured that we will be able to deliver an outstanding product.

A snowball effect following the launch of Solar Queen was the extension of the Solar series, with the launches of Solar Temple, Solar King and more recently Solar Queen Megaways. Tis franchise has been highly beneficial to operators as they can promote a new instalment of a popular game theme, leading to greater engagement.

Playson has developed several other Egyptian slots including Rise of Egypt and 9 Happy Pharaohs. How do 'Solar' titles differ from Playson's other Egyptian themed games?

With Solar Queen, there’s a strong emphasis on the female character, which isn’t often seen in games where developers focus on the Egyptian theme.

With other games inspired by this genre, we make sure to create an ambiance by combining different elements and symbols.

Moreover, with 9 Happy Pharaohs we managed to merge Egyptian culture with the Fruit-slots theme, illustrating our qualities in experimenting with existing games and taking them in new directions.

Following Solar Queen, Playson has launched Solar Queen Megaways, Solar King, and Solar Temple. How much license do you take in terms of iterating upon the Solar formula?

It’s a case of taking what’s best about Solar Queen and making just enough tweaks that introduces a new gameplay that isn’t completely different to the original. Tere’s no doubt that expanding the Solar family was the right choice, we’ve offered different takes on mechanics with each release. Even though each game fits under the Solar series, they all play differently and appeal to slightly different player preferences.

How successful were these follow-up titles compared to the original?

Tey’ve all been successful and remain among the strongest releases we’ve ever launched. However, with that being said, the original Solar Queen title sits firmly on its throne as the most successful title amongst the Solar family.

What is the future for the 'Solar' series of games?

Tere’s still more to come from the Solar series, we will certainly revisit this wonderful collection and when that happens, we will provide more innovative content, which will hopefully be a very pleasant surprise for our players.

Without giving away too much, let’s just say that we’re excited with what we have in the pipeline, make sure you stay tuned and stay up to date with our website and socials.
