Parx Casino Owner joins New York Race
New York - New compact with Seneca Nation With its current 2002 gaming compact set to run out in December, New York's Seneca Nation has agreed a new 20-year casino gaming compact in principle with New York State, although no details have been publicised so far.
Seneca Nation President Rickey Armstrong, Sr. said the details would be confirmed as quickly as possible. "Negotiating a fair compact was critical to the future of the Seneca Nation and the future of Western New York," he explained.
"Throughout months of negotiation, our focus remained on arriving at a fair deal that secured the future of our gaming operations, the vital funding our operations provide for critical services for our people, and the significant jobs and economic benefits they generate in Western New York. We made it clear that we would not settle for anything less."
Since August 2002, the Seneca Nation has spent almost $2bn on developing and operating its three casinos in Niagara Falls, Salamanca, and downtown Buffalo in Western New York.
Kentucky - Churchill Downs secures site Churchill Downs has secured a site in eastern Daviess County, outside of the Owensboro city limits, to build its previously announced historical racing machine entertainment venue as an annex of Ellis Park Racing & Gaming.
This new facility will support purse funding for Ellis Park race meets. The company will provide updated development and investment plans, as well as the location of the property, in the coming months. Churchill Downs bought Ellis Park in 2022 and is planning to spend $75m on the racetrack and the future Owensboro gaming and simulcasting centre.
In 2019, CDI bought and renovated Turfway Park into a racing and gaming facility, which reopened this month. Historical Horse Racing machines have also performed well in Louisville at Derby City Gaming.
Puerto Rico - BetMGM launches app Sports betting and iGaming operator BetMGM has launched its mobile sports betting app in Puerto Rico in partnership with Casino del Mar at La Concha Resort. Puerto Rico is the second market outside of the U.S. mainland for the app.
BetMGM was the first operator to debut regulated retail sports betting in Puerto Rico when it was legalised in February last year. As part of the mobile app registration process, customers in Puerto Rico will need to validate their identification in person at the BetMGM Sportsbook located at the Casino Del Mar resort in San Juan.

Greenwood Gaming, owner of Parx Casino, has joined the race for a New York casino licence, in a partnership with Silverstein Properties, a national real estate investment, development, and management firm.

Arizona IGT powers newly opened Santan Mountain Casino
