Eagan, MN — Ironwood Electronics recently intro- duced a new QFN socket addressing the high per- formance requirements of custom size devices, the CBT-QFN-7053. The contactor is a stamped spring pin with a 14.5g (0.5 oz) actuation force per pin and a cycle life of 100,000 insertions. The self inductance of the contactor is 0.98 nH, insertion loss is less than 1 dB at 31.7 GHz and its capaci- tance is 0.067 pF. The current capacity of each con- tactor is 4A. The socket operates in a temperature range of –55 to +180°C (–67 to +356°F). The socket also has an IC guide for precise


QFN edge alignment. The CBT-QFN-7053 is designed for 5.5 x 6 mm (0.22 x 0.24 in.), 0.4 mm (0.016 in.) pitch QFN packages. The IC is dropped into the socket and its removable lid is closed by latching. Vertical force is applied by the integrat- ed compression springs between the socket lid and compression plate. This socket can be used for hand test, screening modules and custom burn- in applications with the most strin- gent requirements. These socket product lines have


been designed to the JEDEC stan- dard and are available for all stan- dard configurations. Custom designs are also available. The CBT-QFN-
