Pickering Intros Multi-Cell Battery Simulators

CHELMSFORD, MA — Picker - ing’s battery simulators are ideal for Electric Vehicle (EV) battery stack emulation in Battery Management Systems (BMS) test applications. The modules occupy a single PXI slot, and enable direct voltage and current readback either programmatical- ly or using Pickering’s soft panel control. Each cell simulator is highly accurate, specified at ±5 mV from 1 to 7V. The module range features
up to six battery cell simulators in a single slot module. Each simulator can sink or source cur- rent. With an isolation specifica- tion of 750V, users can build a BMS test system that supports up to 90 cells of battery simula- tion, all contained within a sin- gle PXI or PXIe chassis. The modules can be combined
with any of Pickering’s other PXI switch and simulation modules
such as its high voltage switching, fault insertion, thermocouple sim- ulation and RTD simulation. They can also be combined with other vendors’ PXI modules such as a CANbus interface to create a fully flexible BMS test system.

Phoenix Contact: Connectors for energy storage

HARRISBURG, PA — New bat- tery pole and busbar connectors make it safer for workers to install energy storage systems (ESS). Both types of connectors from Phoenix Contact are touch- proof and pluggable, with ratings up to 1,500 VDC and 350A. While most of today’s ESS do not require 1,500V capability, these high-voltage connectors will meet future demands. ESS designers can use the connectors in tandem or separately based on the specific application require- ments. The battery pole connec- tors are installed on the front of
battery modules, while the bat- tery busbar connectors are installed on the back. The battery pole connectors
rotate 360 degrees, so they can accommodate the best angle to arrange heavy cabling. The bus- bar connectors have a drawer- style, slide-in connection, elimi-
