Page 79 ASM: Transformation Partner for the Smart Factory

Suwanee, GA — ASM is presenting many new products and an extensive portfolio of integrated hardware and software solutions at productronica 2019. At the heart of the company’s booth will be an “Integrated Smart Factory Arena” with two SMT lines and automated, robot-supported mate- rial flow and setup processes. A high-flex line and a high-speed line will

show off the latest generations of SIPLACE SX and SIPLACE TX placement platforms, the ASM ProcessLens 5D-SPI system, the ASM AutoRefill feeder, and the new DEK TQ printer platform. The booth will also display the ASM material tower for automated and AGV-supported material logistics. ASM will also present a comprehensive port-

folio of solutions for the integrated control of elec- tronics manufacturing operations. Examples include the ASM command center for smart opera- tor guidance, the ASM production planner and the ASM maintenance manager with fabLIVE for managing service opera- tions on a digital twin of the factory. The ASM FactoryChat repre-

sents a new category of electronics fac- tory software. It is an easy-to-use chat program, a communication tool, a learning platform, a documentation and support database, and a training and maintenance platform. Networked machines can send messages and par- ticipate in team communication. The smart factory area will

demo examples of smart factory inte- gration. Visitors will be able to see

Wacker: Polymeric Binders and Silicones for Coatings

Adrian, MI — Wacker is presenting new polymer- and silicone-based products for the manufacture of coat- ings, adhesives and sealants. The company offers technology for formu- lating wall paints in powder form, polymer dispersions for bituminous coatings, and binders for mineral- based skim coats. The focus is also on a new silicone

resin binder for exterior paints, as well as on a silane-based protective coating for concrete and flowing-screed floors. Most paints are produced using water- based binders or raw materials. Water provides a favorable environment for microbes and bacteria, which is why biocides are commonly added when for- mulating paints. The new spray-dried polymeric

binders based on vinyl acetate-ethyl- ene (VAE) enables the manufacture of wall paints in powder form. This tech- nology can be applied without adding biocides and offers key transport and storage advantages because the result- ing paints contain no water until they are redispersed just before use. The paints have a very low content of volatile organic compounds and meet the requirements of the major environ- mental labels. They are also low-odor and free of organic solvents, plasticiz- ers and film-forming agents. The poly- mers ensure a good adhesion and pro- vide excellent spreading properties,

hiding power and scrub resistance. Contact: Wacker Chemical

storage and set up preparation on two separate SMT lines using ASM’s software and AGVs. The

new ASM AutoRefill feeder, whose ability to auto- matically insert two component tape reels simpli- fies and reduces their frequency, will play a special role in these demonstrations. The dual-lane, high-speed line with its com-

pact SIPLACE TX high-performance modules con- tains the new DEK TQ stencil printer and the high-precision ASM ProcessLens inline SPI sys- tem in dual-lane mode. With its linear drives, off- belt printing, innovative transport and clamping systems and the developed AutoCoplanarity, the DEK TQ high-volume printing platform can oper- ate up to ten hours without an assist.
