SERVO offers a complete motion control solution with a motor, encoder, drive, and con- troller combined in a single integrated motor package. Eliminating the need to con- nect motor power and feedback cables to an external motor con- troller, the integrated motor receives its power and Ethernet communications over one cable for greater design modularity and installation simplicity. The motor is built on Applied

Van Nuys, CA — Optimal Engin - eering Systems, Inc., has introduced two economical XYR (theta) align- ment stages that offer high precision and repeatability for industrial, med- ical, semiconductor, research, and laboratory applications. The XYR-01- 01 and XYR-01- 02 alignment stages (XYR-01-02 is pictured ) offers ±0.3 in. (±7.5 mm) of travel in the x and y axes and 180° of rotation (theta). The XYR-01-01 and XYR-01-02

alignment stages have linear resolu- tions of the x and y axis of 0.01 mil (0.25 µm) (micro-steps per step motor driver in use); the repeatability of each is 0.06 mil (1.5 µm), positional accuracy is 0.2 mil (5 µm), and back-

lash is 0.08 mil (2 µm). The 0.04 in. (1 mm) per turn ground lead screws and preloaded V-groove and crossed roller bearings adds to the high pre- cision and stiffness of these align- ment stages. The 2.4 in. (60 mm) diameter

theta stage of the XYR-01-01 is driv- en by a 90:1 precision worm gear and the 3.9 in. (100 mm) diameter theta stage of the XYR-01-02 is driven by a

XYR-01-01 alignment stage.

precision 180:1 worm gear. The reso- lutions of each of the theta stages is 0.001° (micro-steps per step motor driver in use). Repeatability is 0.005°, positional Accuracy is 0.001°, and backlash is 0.005°. Two-phase stepper motors are

standard and a knob for manual adjustments of each axis can be replaced with an incremental encoder for position verification, or with a servo motor and encoder for closed-loop operation. These black anodized aluminum XYR stages are easy to integrate into new or existing systems. Compatible motion con- trollers are available from OES and the XYR-01-01 and -02 alignment stages can also be ordered as a com-

plete plug-and-play system. Contact: Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc., 6901 Woodley
