Para Systems Launches Minuteman Online Battery Backup Systems

Dallas, TX — Para Systems, Inc., has added to its line of Minuteman uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). These battery backup systems utilize dou- ble conversion technology and provide power man- agement features for protecting large networks, servers, data storage, enterprise communications, large-scale security systems, industrial equip- ment, and distributed antenna systems (DAS). The new product line expands the Encompass rack- mount series to include a tower form factor. By using double conversion, true online archi-

tecture, the Encompass LCD tower products create an “electrical firewall,” providing protection for critical applications. Utilizing an AC-DC-AC con- version process for incoming utility power at all times, these units ensure a pure electrical signal is supplied to the attached equipment. Minuteman’s Encompass LCD

series comes with a three-year war- ranty, including batteries, and a high-efficiency power factor of 0.9 with capacities ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 VA. Users can stay on top of all aspects of power conditions, whether they are near the unit or at an offsite location, due to an onboard LCD sta- tus display and control panel, cou- pled with the ability to monitor power conditions remotely with Minuteman’s SentryHD software. An option slot is included to

accommodate Minuteman’s SNMP communication card and environ- mental monitoring probes, or an optional programmable relay card.

CDS Intros Embedded Controllers for Industrial Automation

Rochester, Kent, UK — Crystal Display Systems has launched its first embedded controllers built for the industrial automation and machine vision market. The T36X0 is a new and fully equipped controller with a suite of I/O, designed with automation in mind. Special design features include: rugged, compact, fan-less design; high performance; and low power consump- tion. The controller supports five LAN ports with four POE, enabling direct power and connectivity to the POE devices, up to 15.4W per channel. The T3 series has a fully sealed mechanical structure, preventing dust from enter- ing the system. The fan-less design incorpo-

rates a large aluminum-fin heat sink that can distribute and radiate heat effectively, offering an operating temperature range of –4 to +140°F (–20 to +60°C). The series can also be customized to support –40 to +158°F (–40 to +70°C) for some rugged appli- cations and requirements. The T3 series can be widely used in industri- al and automation applications. The devices have been qualified by sever- al customers and used in a variety of industrial and embedded automation

projects. Contact: Crystal Display

Multiple external battery packs can also be added to provide the extended back up time solutions that many critical systems require. Added features in the Encompass series

include independent battery bypass, load-shedding, hot-swappable battery replacement, automatic internal bypass, and tool-less battery replacement. These products also have cUL (1778) certification, and include an ECO mode, which further increases

efficiency and reduces power consumption. Contact: Para Systems, Inc., 1455 LeMay
