Two-Quadrant Power Supplies from Rohde & Schwarz

Columbia, MD — Rohde & Schwarz has introduced its R&S NGL200 power supplies, designed for chal- lenging applications in mobile com- munications and the Internet of Things (IoT). Their two-quadrant architecture allows them to function as both source and sink. Their short recovery times enable them to handle fast load changes. The

single-channel R&S

NGL201 and the two-channel R&S NGL202 deliver up to 60W of output power per channel. The output chan- nels are floating, galvanically isolated and protected against overload and short circuits. The power supplies can sink power in a controlled manner, enabling them to simulate the specific characteristics of a battery. This series also contains capaci-

tive touchscreens and large, high- resolution displays. The optimized

user interface is especially intuitive, and temperature-controlled fans

ensure extremely quiet operation. Extensive safety functions safeguard the DUT and the power supply in the event of a fault. Power supplies used to

power IoT devices and other battery-operated devices or to test semiconductors must be able to handle load changes from a few µA to the ampere range without voltage drops or overshoots. Due to their fast load recovery time of less than 30 µs and minimal overshoot, these power supplies are well- suited for such tasks. The linear, two-quadrant

design of the output stages enables the R&S NGL200 power supplies to operate as a source and sink, with automat- ic switching from source mode

to sink mode. The R&S NGL200 power supplies in -

clude linear regulation to deliver extremely stable output voltages and currents. This makes them a good choice for powering sensitive mod- ules and for developing power ampli- fiers and MMICs.

With up to 6.5-digit resolution

for voltage, current and power meas- urements, the R&S NGL200 series is excellent for characterizing devices that have low power consumption in standby mode and high current in full-load operation. The entire meas- uring range is covered without hav- ing to switch ranges, speeding up measurements. In many cases, an additional digital multimeter is not necessary. In addition to channel outputs,

the R&S NGL200 series provides con- nectors for sense lines. USB and LAN interfaces are installed as standard for remote control. The R&S NGL-K102 option adds WLAN support. Digital inputs and outputs are available with the R&S NGL-K103 option, and the R&S NGL-B105 hardware option pro-

vides a GPIB (IEEE-488) interface. Contact: Rohde & Schwarz USA, Inc., 6821 Benjamin Franklin Drive,

Epoxies, Etc. Intros Fast Curing Toughened Epoxy

Only NorCom optical leak technology detects both gross and fine leaks in hermetically sealed packages, this fast. Instead of using multiple technologies

and processes, you can leak test virtually any type of package with one high-speed system. The NorCom 2020™

series inspects hermetically sealed components to

MIL-STD 883 requirements either in seam seal trays, or when already mounted to circuits boards and assemblies. It automatically rejects failed devices, and reports the leak rate for each part, eliminating “divide and conquer”leak testing.

Cranston, RI — Epoxy adhesives offer many advantages over traditional mechanical fasteners, such as rivets, nuts and bolts, pins, or welding. However, conventional two-part epox- ies that offer excellent bonds can be slow to cure. The new 10-3041 tough- ened epoxy adhesive from Epoxies, Etc., develops a 3,000 psi lap shear strength within four hours. Within minutes, the material is dry to the touch.

Epoxy adhesives also save time

and reduce weight. This is why the aerospace industry prefers using epoxy adhesives over mechanical fas- teners. The 10-3041 high-perform- ance epoxy adhesive forms excellent bonds to a variety of plastics and metals. It also acts as an outstanding electrical insulator and therefore is suitable for many electronic bonding applications. For easy application, the epoxy

adhesive is packaged in the compa- ny’s TriggerBond® system, which eliminates the weighing and mixing of a two-part epoxy. Samples are readily available and ship within three days. The 10-3041 material is designed

to provide a combination of high lap shear strength, high peel resistance and impact endurance. Once fully cured, the epoxy adhesive is also resistant to a wide range of chemicals and solvents. The adhesive also offers higher heat performance than most fast-setting epoxies.
