Page 83 Exatron Unveils WLCSP Programming Handler

San Jose, CA — Exatron has recently unveiled a new linear motor-driven pick-and-place handler, designed specifically for wafer level chip scale package (WLCSP) programming. The Model 921 WLCSP program handler offers throughput of up to 2,000 units per hour with a 10s programming time and can handle small devices with greater speed and accuracy than lead screw-driven gantries. The Model 921 provides up to 16 program-

ming sites, two quad pickup heads, tape input/out- put, a single JEDEC standard tray or waffle pack, bottom-side 3D inspection on a motorized y-axis mount, and a Dino-Lite digital microscope, which eases calibration of production distances during job set up. Programming sockets are designed by Exatron

to handle even the most fragile of devices gently and in-pocket output tape inspection ensures devices are seated properly prior to sealing. Linear motors are equipped with digital

absolute position encoders, which allow the han- dler to disable motors in an error event and then restart automation without

GaN Systems and Partners Present at APEC 2019

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada — GaN Systems and its customers and part- ners, including Denso, Sonnen and Supermicro, are presenting opti- mized gallium nitride (GaN) solu- tions at APEC 2019. One of the most highly antici-

pated presentations is “GaN E- HEMT Performance and Reliability in Datacenter, Solar, and Wireless Power Production Systems.” In this session, IS16, Gan Systems CEO Jim Witham and executives from leading companies will discuss the impor- tance of using GaN power semicon- ductors and their various applica- tions.

Denso will present about the

paradigm shift happening in the transportation market and how elec- tronics using wide-bandgap materi- als, such as GaN, enable smaller and lighter electric vehicles. Sonnen will describe the chal-

lenges it faced when creating its next-generation products and the improvements made by GaN, includ- ing decreasing its bill of materials (BoM) cost. Supermicro will explain how

increasing data center efficiency is reducing total cost to the environ- ment and the total cost of ownership of data centers. GaN Systems will also be show-

casing new devices and technologies from customers and partners at the trade show, highlighting how power design systems using GaN are meet- ing size, power, efficiency, and sys- tem cost requirements. GaN Systems offers a large

portfolio of transistors that address the needs of today’s most demanding industries, including data center servers, renewable energy systems, automotive, industrial motors, and

consumer electronics. Contact: GaN Systems, 1145

resetting the system, ease calibration of produc- tion distances during job set up and ensure precise pickup of small devices. Input and output tape assemblies have been modified to ensure wafer

level packages do not jump out of carrier tape. The Model 921 was created with Exatron’s

building block design method and is easily adapt- able to a wide range of standard input/output, machine vision, and laser marking options, includ- ing input and output tube, bulk input, direct input from sawn wafer, labeler, and thermal test appli- cations. The system has a guaranteed operating temperature range of –67 to +311°F (–55 to +155°C) and includes in-tray laser marking. Programming handler software can also be

expanded to provide auto-remake of failed devices, while guaranteeing serialization in the output tape. The system prevents gaps in tape, doubled numbers and missing serial numbers. Applications include high-security and Internet of Things (IoT) devices that require trackable cer-

tainty of serial information. Contact: Exatron, Inc., 2842 Aiello Drive,
