66 East Cork Continued from above page
half continued at a fero- cious pace with both sides fully committed.
A Dan-
iel Garde pointed free was cancelled out by a similar score from our opponents, we edged ahead with two fine points from play from Eoghan Fraser and Conor Morley before
a long
range free found its way to the back of the Midleton net, a Daniel Garde point- ed free put the sides level again at the final whistle, extra time of 5 mins a side was now required.
The
first half of extra time saw Fourmilewater score a goal
while we failed to add to our tally,
in the second
half of extra time Thom- as Dunlea who had to be in contention for player of the tournament scored a superb point,
Fouremile
responded with another point before
de added a point to
Daniel Gar- the
board but this was to be the final score of the game, despite a titanic effort Foumile got everyone be- hind the ball and defended resolutely and held out for a two point victory and a place in the semi final versus Kilmacud Crokes of Dublin, the score
line
ended Fourmilewater 2.03 v Midleton 1.07. We were bitterly disappointed and aggrieved at some of the decisions during what was a pulsating match, none- theless we wished our op- ponents well and our lads can be extremely proud of the way they played and behaved.
Captain on the
day Yohanis Mehigan lift- ed the lads in the dressing room with an inspiring few words before we departed for home. We would like to thank Clonea Power for the invitation for their ex- cellent hospitality.
