Youghal Lifeboat Station Say Thank You for €5,203 Raised on the Annual Flag Day “On behalf of every-
one at Youghal Lifeboat Station we would like to thank all our collectors and the people of the town of Youghal and surrounding areas, for helping us raise the amazing amount of €5,203 on our Annual Flag
Days 2018. It will be put
towards the running costs of our Station and equip- ment, and we could not do this without your help and support.” With a National annual
cost of over €170 Million to run the 238 Lifeboat
Stations by maintaining boats, training the crews (which are made up entire- ly of volunteers) and the provision of
a Lifeguard
service, it is vital that the public and Lifeboat service maintain their long stand- ing support of each other.
As the RNLI receive absolutely no Govern- ment funding every pen- ny raised, and donated, counts when it comes to saving lives at sea.

Music with Mary Stanford in Aid of RNLI Ballycotton Fundraiser
by CLAIRE O’DONOGHUE
A musical and pic- nic night in aid of the RNLI Ballycotton will be held on Friday, 3 August at 6.30pm. The event is free, but a do- nation box will be in situ for anyone to make a donation. The event takes place at the Mary Stanford. All proceeds raised go straight to- wards the running costs of the current lifeboat, the “Austin Lidbury” which provides such a vital service
to the
coastal area of Bally- cotton. To entertain picnic goers, the Uku- lele Band from Cobh will be giving an out- door performance. The event welcomes all and encourages the whole family to turn out and bring their favourite picnic food and drinks, sit outside and chat in
the open air. Speaking with Margie Houlihan, RNLI, she said, “The Lifeboat will at the Pier also on Sunday, August 6 as well as a visit from the Coastguard helicop- ter. This is an event to raise awareness and ap- preciation for the RNLI and its volunteers, who have had 3 call outs in the past week alone.” This Sunday, 29 July,
the musical talents of Gina and the Champi- ons with special guest Ronan Collins will set the stage for a great night of fun and danc- ing
at Garryvoe Ho-
tel, in aid of the RNLI Ballycotton. Tickets are €20 and are available locally or at the door on the night. Come along for a fantastic evening, at
the same time sup-
porting the brave crew of RNLI.
