Under 7’s vs Lismore Hurling Challenge Match Our Under 7’s trav-

elled to Lismore on July 14th

for a challenge hurl-

ing match, a return fix- ture from that we hosted last April. It was a lovely sunny Saturday morn- ing and our players were as usual excited to play Lismore again, who are undoubtedly a tough op- position prospect. We travelled with 23 our

of

Lismore had 16 players, meaning we

players, while split our

group into two groups for two matches vs 8 Lis- more players, for which we would rotate our ex- tra players as subs. Our teams started strongly, well drilled and in good formation holding the Lismore team scoreless. As players were rotated from the Youghal team which ensured equal playing time as much as possible, we lost our shape

somewhat and

the well drilled Lismore teams were able to show- case their fine hurling skills against us. It was a good test for our players and they showed great guile, fighting team spirit and showcased their own improving skillset which they have learned since the two clubs met last Spring. We look forward to fur-

ther tests, further honing their skills, team building and of

course the fun

and craic of playing the wonderful GAA sports! We welcome new players (born 2011) at any time. We train on Saturdays at 10.30-11.30 and Tuesday evenings at 6-7. Contact Manager Chris Mangan 0879141842 for more info.

Under 9’s Fun Inter County Hurling Blitz 21st July The club was a hive

of activity on Saturday last (21st

July) when we

organised and hosted an U-9 Fun Inter Coun- ty Hurling

Blitz. There

were 11 clubs from Cork, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny, represented by over 200 kids and 50 mentors. A huge amount of work went into making this day a success. Played in perfect conditions, our Youghal boys hurled bril- liantly and really enjoyed the day. There were plen- ty of tired boys by the end of the day! Thanks to all who helped out on the day. Any boys (born 2009)

interested in joining this panel are more than wel- come just contact Aidan Foley 087-2201246

Cúl Camps 2018 It’s that

time of year

again when Club Aras welcomes children be- tween the ages of 6 and 13 years to the week long Cúl Camp. It will be for many the highlight their summer

of holidays.

Originally launched by the GAA in 2006 and now

in it’s 12 year, the camps “provide boys and girls with an action-packed and fun-filled week of ac- tivity during the summer holidays which revolves around maximising en- joyment and sustaining participant

involvement

in Gaelic Games. Activ- ities are

player-centred

and game based with a strong emphasis placed on skill acquisition, and are organised in an age appropriate

manner

with a view to: optimis- ing learning, enhancing friendships, improving physical & psychological well being, promoting school and club links” (www.kelloggscul - camps.gaa.ie). This year’s Youghal Cúl Camps will host more than 190 children with a proportional amount of coaches and mentors involved in their coaching. You will un- doubtedly see the stylish new kits on children all over town and around

the country for the next year. We look forward to the week ahead and will have a report and photos for the next issue!
