sport@eastcorkjournal.ie County Junior B Football Final
on Friday Night July 27th Ballinacurra v Grange in Pairc Ui Rinn at 18:15
On Friday night in Pairc Ui Rinn some more silver- ware will be up for grabs when Ballinacurra take on Grange in the County Jun- ior B football final. Grange has come very close in re- cent seasons and will cer- tainly fancy their chances, but Ballinacurra too will feel that they can come out on top in what should be a tight contest.. Both sides have played three games each to reach
this decider with Grange overcoming Rathpeacon in round 1 by 3-11 to 0-2. In the quarter final they got the better of Deel Rov- ers, winning by 3-8 to 0-11 and in the semi-final it was a much tighter call as they got the better of Goleen by 1-9 to 0-10 to secure their spot.
Ballinacurra too have
been impressive in their games beating Kilbrin by 3-20 to 3-9 in their open-
ing contest. In the quarter final they had a big win over Whitechurch posting 5-10 to 1-9 for the los- ers. In the semi-final they were pushed all the way by Glengarriffe who lost out by 0-17 to 2-14 for Ballina- curra. It is this better scor- ing rate that might see the village come out on top. Players such as James
and Padraig Nagle, Kel- vin Kruchell,
Stephen O’Brien, Tomas Houli-
han, Tom O’Meara, Tre- vor Costigan and Damien Daly will be to the fore for Ballinacurra, while Pat Howard, Devon Roche, Colin Scott,
James Car-
mody and Dave Keating will be the main men for Grange. It should be a high scoring contest, with Ballinacurra who lost out in East Cork last week to Bride Rovers hoping to collect the Silverware on Friday night.

Cork Intermediate football championship (Round 2)
Glanworth 2-6 Glenville 0-4
Just a dozen scores be-
tween both sides over the hour shows just how tough this game was as a physi- cally stronger Glanworth side ended the hopes of Glenville in round 2 of the Cork Intermediate football championship. With both defences on top and neither forward line
selves, both sides strug- gled
Glanworth did find the net in the 5th
half
distinguishing them- for scores although minute when
Shane O’Riordan goaled. They would add just two more points before
time with Brian Gallagher and O’Riordan on target
while Glenville would fare no better with only James McCarthy and Dylan O’Donovan on target for the Imokilly side who trailed by 1-2 to 0-2 at the interval. The second half saw
Glenville mount a chal- lenge
but again their
shooting left a lot to be desired with only a point from Dylan O’Donovan to show for their effort. I contrast Glanworth fared a little better in front of goal as Pierre O’Driscoll, Ross Murphy and Emmett Sheehan
extended their
lead to five points 1-5 to 0-3 as the game entered

the closing stages. Dylan O’Donovan another
landed remaining but
from a free with ten min- utes
point that
proved to be their final score as Glanworth closed out the win with a Shane O’Riordan pointed free and a late goal from Jesse Walsh to secure their place against Cill Na Martra in the knockout stages. For Glenville it is the end of the championship road for this season as they will now turn to the small ball with Watergrasshill. Glenville: D O’Dono-
van 0-3 and J McCarthy 0-1.
Glanworth: S O’Ri-
