Green Saffron Cooking Demo In Aid Of Doors at 7pm

gether National School (METNS),

with ,

Midleton Educate To- together

Green Saffron’s Arun Ka- pil, will host a very special Cooking Demo in the school on Thursday, March 15th

with proceeds from tick- et sales and a raffle on the night going towards pur- chasing equipment for the new school. The go-to spice guru in

Ireland, Arun loves sharing his spice knowledge, and on March 15th

he will share his

infectious enthusiasm and love for all things spice, im- parting some of his expertise through his cookery demo that will focus on warming, colourful, comforting food, perfectly designed to boost mood and taste great. Anglo-Indian chef Arun is a food entrepreneur, spice

expert, and founder

of Green Saffron, the mul- ti-award-winning purveyors of the finest spices, rice, sauces and spice blends, based in Cork. Now based in Midleton, Arun was born

to a Yorkshire mother and Hindustani father, and grew up under the influence of a fusion of flavours – clas- sic British dishes from his mother and exciting, exotic spices from his father. Since the modest beginnings in Midleton Farmers’ Market, Green Saffron has grown and developed, and Arun himself now works with food scientists, top and Miche- lin-starred chefs, multi-na- tional companies, global family businesses, local fam- ily businesses, and his own brand to develop dishes, products, ranges of prod- ucts, concept food solutions and spice blends. Ahead of the METNS Cooking Demo, Arun said “I am delighted to have the opportunity to support Mid- leton Educate Together Na- tional School. Sharing my love of all things spice is one of my passions, and to be able to do so and support a local cause that is close to my heart is wonderful. March 15th

will be an informative

evening full of flavor and fun, and I am encouraging people to come along and support the school and our local children.” Midleton Educate To-

gether National School recently moved into its fab- ulous new premises on the Mill Road, and equipment is now required to fit out the school. School Principal, Rhodri Mears said “While we

have a fantastic new

school, the Government pro- vided us with a ‘shell’ essen- tially, so unfortunately it does not come fully fitted out. We have organised this fundrais- ing event to help purchase essential equipment

A Lament by HELENA KELLEHER KAHN

See how the media looks down upon us All of their tears cannot wash their sight clear Enough to see what goes on down here, (Where sorrow, like death, darkens our hearts.)

Here is a bone and there is another, Put them together and swear ‘tis your brother, Slain by decree of a Reverend Mother, ( Sorrow, like death, darkens our hearts).

Do not pretend you know all about incest, Payment for this will be lasting and dear,

But don’t make it public—We won’t, never fear— (Sorrow, like death, cannot darken our hearts).

We have no satirists now: we don’t need them, And we have forgotten that once we could breed them And even in Irish Times could—just—read—them! Sorrow, like death, still darkens my heart.
