PANSTADIA & ARENA MANAGEMENT AUTUMN 2013

Giving fans the best sight and sound experience is part of achieving the right atmosphere and interaction for athletes, fans and sponsors.
ike any other leisure sector business, large-scale venues can’t take
consumers for granted. Management knows it’s important to constantly revisit the facilities and atmosphere provided to fans. Audio visual equipment plays an important role in drawing fans out to experience a larger than life event.
Audio is still not a straightforward calculation for large venues although the latest installed systems have improved hugely on intelligibility. Public safety demands that audio equipment is tested to regulatory standards. After that, it’s how much entertainment can you generate for your buck. The physical space and the treatments on its surfaces are just as important as the audio equipment – see PanStadia & Arena Management Summer 2013 on the engineering of fi rst direct arena in Leeds.
Outdoor equipment needs to be designed and manufactured to withstand extreme weather and to cover large zones. Audio installer Tommex Zebrowscy Sp. J. has recently completed the design and installation of an audio system for the Złotnicza Sports Park in Jelenia Góra in Lower Silesia, southwestern Poland.

cover the pitch and ground stands. The Community loudspeakers are powered by a Dynacord DSA 8410 4-channel amplifi er. A Community dSPEC226AN handles signal processing and FIR fi ltering, with FIR fi lters matched to each loudspeaker so that frequency response characteristics are aligned and the sound quality optimised.
The commentary box, located in the centre of the grandstand, houses a Dynacord CMS 600-3 mixer with a Sennheiser E825-S microphone, Sennheiser PRO HD380 headphones and two Denon DN-C110P CD/MP3 players. Tommex also installed a distributed ceiling loudspeaker system for the indoor areas of the grandstand.

The NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars is typical of a franchise developing its fan base by taking part in the annual NFL game in Wembley, London, but it is also addressing fans’ needs at home by upgrading its EverBank Field stadium facilities. Team President Mark Lamping summarises the team’s thinking: “We do not take for granted the emotional and fi nancial investment of Jaguars fans. In return, we’re doing everything we can to produce a winner on the fi eld, but in the areas we control – like the in-stadium experience at EverBank Field – we owe our fans nothing less than the very best, and that’s what they can expect soon at EverBank Field.”
