Dow introduces new technology for
artificial turf backing
Dow is expanding its market offering for sports surfaces with a new, lighter, easily recyclable backing solution – HYPOD Polyolefi n Dispersions. Using a distinct water-based process, this solution helps address environmental requirements for pitches without compromising performance.
HYPOD technology helps enable artifi cial turf producers to gain the performance and recyclability attributes of thermoplastic products while using conventional coating processing equipment.
HYPOD with its thermoplastic olefi nic nature is intrinsically compatible with the olefi nic yarn fi bres, increasing the tuft bind even in wet conditions and at low and high temperatures.
HYPOD Polyolefi n Dispersions backings also allow artifi cial turf system manufacturers to develop a complete olefi ns-based components system. This can make the artifi cial turf system easier to recycle, and helps minimise handling and separation of the different system components. Facility owners can now reap the benefi ts of an all polyolefi nic recyclable artifi cial turf pitch made with Dow’s solutions.
