PANSTADIA & ARENA MANAGEMENT AUTUMN 2013

Premium seating launches in Singapore

Singapore Sports Hub’s National Stadium is a confi gurable seating bowl – see article in this issue. It’s also a home for premium seating – 1,655 Premium Seats will be featured in the 55,000 capacity as part of the National Stadium Club, the fi rst dedicated hospitality membership programme of its kind in Singapore and across Southeast Asia.

“Premium Seats Membership offers businesses and individuals the unique proposition of a guaranteed spot in a prime location at the National Stadium to be in the heart of the action,” says Adrian Staiti, Senior Vice-President, Stadiums and Arenas, World Sport Group. As well as being given fi rst option to purchase tickets, members will also enjoy premium padded seats with armrests, access to the Members’ Club Lounge, a members- only car park area, a private National Stadium Club entrance lobby, event concierge services, fully air-conditioned concourses and dedicated account management. Each seat is priced at $1,950 annually.

Last year, 62 Executive Suites ranging from 8-seaters to 30-seaters were launched and saw a swift uptake – all available suites have since been purchased by corporations.

Padded for the Pavilion

The new BOX Seat 901 Padded Model proudly took its place in the redeveloped Kia Oval in time for the 2013 Investec Ashes series fi nale during the summer. And what better stage upon which to make its debut than one that has played such a crucial role in sporting history? As the very fi rst British host of international cricket and the ground that saw England football team play- and win- its fi rst international match, the Oval’s legacy spans across both sporting genres and generations.

The BOX Seat 901 Padded Model was the chosen seating solution for the redevelopment of the historic Members’ Pavilion. Building has been underway since last winter to – as Chief Executive Richard Gould put it – create a “front door which fully respects our heritage and history, whilst also providing peerless facilities for our members and supporters”.

Transforming the perception of cost-effective seating, The BOX Seat 901 Padded Model is both economical and comfortable; an entry-level polymer seat offering the added luxury of a padded seat and backrest. The installation will provide a seating experience befi tting an entire suite of hospitality facilities that are, quite simply, second to none.

Arena overhauls

The summer is often a time for seating bowl renovation. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s McKenzie Arena has replaced the 2,016 retractable seats in the lower bowl at a cost of $1.8 million, adding 800 padded seats below the gold circle.

Often the challenge of these projects is fi tting in renovation around events. Nationwide Arena General

Manager Vicki Chorman has managed contractors’ work around concerts and other events to replace 6,000 seats before the Columbus Blue Jackets’ September preseason games.

Three phases over the next three years will replace the 18,000-plus seats that have been in Nationwide Arena since it opened in 2000. Columbus Arena Management took over arena operations last year as part of a deal in which the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority bought the arena from Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. 

Heated VIP stadium seats at Stoke City

Opposition chairmen will have the most to smile about on their visits to Stoke City Football Club this season, as the second oldest existing professional football club in the world has turned to STECHERT to install its HAMBURG VIP heated stadium seats in the Directors Box.

The installed heating system combines exceptional seating comfort and spectator welfare to a new level, ensuring chairmen and other club executives remain comfortable whatever the performance of their team on the pitch!

The luxurious seats are upholstered with cerise artifi cial leather and even include the Potters’ club logo embroidered in each backrest.

The contract with Stoke City represents STECHERT’s fi rst project in the English market, a signifi cant coup as they faced substantial competition to win the contract which adds to their impressive list of recent sports projects. Their HAMBURG VIP seats have also been installed earlier this year at the Veltins Arena, home of Bundesliga club Schalke 04.
