SERVICES ROOF SYSTEM
Translucent roof system for maximum natural light
Half-shade in covered areas. A glimpse of the sky. And special lighting effects when darkness falls. The new BEMO-monoSKY roof system enables a host of out-of-the-ordinary design options.
The implementation process: constructing a translucent roof system
BEMO SYSTEMS’ monoSKY solution opens up new possibilities for letting daylight in, even with low-pitch roofs. The standing seam panels can be produced on site, in lengths of over 100 metres.
BEMO standing seam panels are the load-bearing element of the roof. Their perforated pans enable sunlight to shine through. They are mounted onto halters on the purlins with zero penetration.
A transparent cover that mirrors the shape of the perforated standing seam panels protects the structure from water. This preserves the traditional look and feel of a standing seam roof. BEMO-monoSKY roofs enable a range of innovative architectural designs, and are highly cost-effective.
The challenge: grass fields in stadiums
In many sports stadiums, the fi eld is treated as an afterthought. The grass often does not get the light it requires for photosynthesis. The current trend is to build multifunctional sports facilities with full or partial roofi ng. This makes it diffi cult for the grass to grow, driving up maintenance costs.
BEMO’s monoSKY offers the perfect solution to this issue. Its transparent layer lets precisely the part of the light spectrum through that plants need to grow.
The background: benefits of a translucent roof system
When the sun shines, the translucent roof system allows a pleasant
diffused light to fall on the covered area. Furthermore, monoSKY blocks dangerous UV rays, protecting spectators from sunburn.
The system offers tangible benefi ts: providing shelter from the scorching sun, and inclement weather conditions.
Another special feature of BEMO’s monoSKY solution is that visitors can look up through the roof and watch clouds, birds and airplanes fl y across the sky.
And at night, the building emits a beautiful glow. A variety of lighting colours can be selected to achieve the desired effect.
