Venue Exercise at the Rio Olympic Arena during the summer to bring together employees from various functional areas of the Committee to attend presentations about the Games and perform integration activities.

Each area had the opportunity to explore their activities and get to know their interdependencies with other areas of the Committee and with external partners. This work continued for 15 weeks with exercises and specifi c plans, as well as technical visits to the venues.

Construction of the three sports halls at the Barra Olympic Park started on 1 July as scheduled. The venues, which are the fi rst at the park to have the ground

broken, will host basketball, taekwondo, Olympic and Paralympic judo, wrestling, wheelchair basketball, boccia, sitting volleyball, and wheelchair rugby.

Along with the Maria Lenk Aquatic Centre, the Velodrome and the Tennis Centre, the three halls after the Games will form part of the Olympic Training Centre (OTC), the fi rst of its kind in Brazil.

After dismantling of the old race track’s structure and the clearing of the site, the fi rst stage of building includes ground drilling and the application of concrete on foundation structures to support the facilities. Work on the venues’ structures will start before the end of the year.
