PANSTADIA & ARENA MANAGEMENT AUTUMN 2013

GLOBAL GATHERING

The 23rd International Congress for Design, Construction, Modernisation and Management for Sport and Leisure Facilities and the international trade fair Amenity Areas, Sports and Pool Facilities (FSB) will take place in Cologne 22-25 October 2013.

T

he IAKS Congress expects to welcome more than 500

participants from over 40 different nations. These include architects, engineers, clients, designers, local- authority decision-makers, technical and operative management, sports federations and clubs and the European trade press. All congress sessions will be translated simultaneously into English, Spanish, German and Russian.

FSB 2013 will, judging by past performance, feature innovative products and services for all levels of sport, from leisure to amateur and professional. In total, around 1,000 exhibitors (50% international) and more than 25,000 visitors are expected at the trade fair duo FSB and aqua ale (for swimming pools).

The FSB area devoted to public swimming pool construction will be

located in Hall 10.1. As a result, the swimming pool areas of FSB and aqua ale will be combined in the joint Halls 10.1 and 10.2, where they will be clearly divided into different theme areas.

The Sport facilities area of FSB will occupy all of Hall 11. Additional forums and workshops are also planned here as a sports-related and specialist extension of the product segments in the trade fair halls. These forums and workshops will concentrate on topics of interest to municipalities and planners.

Trends on show

Innovations for ticketing and access systems at stadiums and arenas are being driven by the global popularity of smartphones. The digitisation of sales channels and the tickets

themselves is being accompanied by the ‘deanonymisation’ of customers. Clearly identifi able tickets and access rights issued with QR codes or NFC- enabled smartphones make possible more comprehensive communication with customers through systems that also offer bonuses and are linked to social media. This setup simplifi es payment processes and onsite access control as well, and in combination with high-resolution video surveillance systems, it also provides greater safety at public events.
