IN, Indianapolis: Pepsi Coliseum At the Indiana State Fairgrounds since 1939 and original home of the Indiana Pacers. Renovation to bring the building up to modern day standards and provide new fan comforts for the Indiana State Fair and other events throughout the year. New seating bowl and elevated public concourse. Architect: Populous.

Completion August 2014 KY, Lexington, University of Kentucky:


Rupp Arena Replacement project announced by Lexington mayor but consideration being given to renovation rather than replace. Plan to remove shops and convention center from around Rupp. Five year project anticipated. All chair- back seating, wider concourses, more restrooms and upgraded concessions, luxury suites and other levels of premium seating. New scoreboard. Market analysis for a 24,000 to 30,000-seat arena. Feasibility study: IMG College and International Stadia Group. Operator: Lexington Center Corp. (CEO Bill Owen). UK’s contract with Lexington Center expires in 2018. Architect: NBBJ. Construction: Hunt. Start in 2014. Cost $250-$300m

MD: Baltimore Arena Various proposals from developers to replace 45-year- old 1st Mariner Arena. Private funding interest from Whiting--Turner. Likely to extend convention center, and add arena. Research phase. Maryland Stadium Authority report suggested a 18,500-seat arena with no major league basketball or hockey franchise, 500-room hotel to create a destination package. Arena income projection: $48.1m-$50.3m annually. Arena jobs: 730- 760. Parking: 500 Capacity 18,500 Cost $900m


MD, Towson: Tiger Arena Arena addition to the Towson Center at Towson University (Athletics Director, Mike Waddell), with screens and suites. Home to the school’s basketball, gymnastics and volleyball. Go-ahead after neighbourhood opposition. Hospitality area: 1,500ft2


Capacity 5,200. Suites capacity: 60. Club seats: 340. Courtside: 120

ME: Bangor Arena U-shaped arena adjacent to the existing auditorium as well as new conference space and pedestrian bridges. Completing concrete foundations before 1 December to avoid winter working conditions and allow for the 200ft steel trusses to be erected in the middle of   seat steel-frame arena, expandable to 8,050 seats. Phase II to include renovating the existing civic center and auditorium into a variety of meeting and conference spaces. Designs complete, contractor going out to  Dethlefs ($0.4-0.5m). Construction manager: Cianbro Corp ($0.175m). Financed by slots. City manager: Edward Barrett. Schematic design and costing in preparation. Voting in May. Finance consultant: EMDC. Area: 202,257ft2

Center Renovations include expanded seating and new entrances. Majority of renovation to start at the end of the hockey season in april 2013. General manager: Steve Crane. Tenant team: Portland Pirates. Cost $33m

MI: Kalamazoo Arena Proposed downtown arena for WMU and the Kalamazoo Wings as part of mixed use development. Early community meetings taking place. Architect: Eckert Wordell Architecture, Engineering and Interior Design (Jason B. Novotny). Area: 215,000ft2

ND, Fargo: Bison Sports Arena Upgrade for home of North Dakota State University basketball (Athletic Director Gene Taylor). Includes a two- court basketball practice and a separate indoor track-  of the Sanford Health Athletic Complex. Finance: Sanford Health ($10m corporate gift) and fundraising. Architect: T.L. Stroh Architects and Interiors. Capacity 5,700 (5,830) Cost $34m

NE, Lincoln: Pinnacle Bank Arena Ahead of target for Autumn 2013 opening, 400,000 hours put in so far with 250 onsite workers daily. Naming rights: $11.25 (25 years). Task Force predicted annual economic impact of $260m. Residents approved a bond issue to pay for arena construction. Finance: private, revenue from events and sales and use taxes. $7.5m set aside for environmental cleanup. Economic study: Leib Advisors (Michael O’Sullivan). Marketing partner: International Stadia Group (IMG). Consultant: Convention, Sports and Leisure International. Architect: DLR ($1.2m as consultant, $8m on project). NV: Las Vegas Arena Las Vegas City Council wants a sports arena and entertainment district at Symphony Park to attract a major league team. Developer: Cordish Cos. Also  Entertainment on land east of the Imperial Palace on the Strip.


NV, Las Vegas: Mohegan Sun Arena Upgrade to venerable venue. ’White box’ to house restaurant/retail stores. Area: 900ft2 Cost $7.5m
