Not long after the company was formed in 1985, it started manufacturing 3-inch GaAs wafers for use in radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) designed for military applications, direct satellite broadcasting and the cable television market. In 1993, Anadigics became the first GaAs IC manufacturer to achieve ISO certification (ISO9001) and became a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ stock market (as ANAD) two years later.

In 1997, the firm produced the first commercial dual-band, dual-model GaAs power amplifier for the cellular and PCS market. The year 1999 was particularly good for Anadigics, with the launch of the world’s first 6-inch analog GaAs wafer fab in its HQ, Warren, New Jersey. The company also developed the first InGaP HBT on 6-inch GaAs for use in cellular phones. Further development of HBTs were recognized in 2004 with the development of “InGaP- Plus”, claimed to be the world’s first ‘low-cost’ Gallium Arsenide-based BiFET (Bipolar Field Effect Transistor) process that monolithically integrates two types of transistors on the same chipset. This development was said to enable high volume production of commercial Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs) at a minimum cost.
