In 2016 HPS relocated its much larger premises adjoin- ing the existing building in The company also opened two new branches early in 2016, HPS Millbrook in Southampton in March, with HPS Rochester in April. Both the new branches incorporate full bathroom showrooms; bringing the total number of showrooms in the company up to ten. The year also saw HPS achieving another record turnover up 6.3% to £56.4m and raising a further £20,000 for its chosen charity, Great Ormand Street Hospital. Turnover for 2017 is ex- pected to contining rising, probably by about 5.1%. A further new branch is planned for Sevenoaks in knt, opening this month (April).

Builders and timber mer- chant Covers saw growth increasing on a like for like basis across the depots, which stretch from South- ampton in the West to Royal Tunbridge Wells in the East.
Profitability was im- proved, despite an in- crease in competitor activ- ity and keener pricing. Covers says it expects the forthcoming year to be a challenging one, particu- larly with regard to the company’s ability to main- tain profit margins in the wake of continuing price increases from suppliers.
