Bond It product used in historic art project

Bond It’s GB PRO advanced hybrid sealant and adhesive has been used in an historic public art project. PERFUGIUM MISERIS celebrates the maritime heritage of Ramsgate harbour in Kent

and has been created by Mooch – a creative practice specialising in public realm art and design. A Latin phrase PERFUGIUM MISERIS is carved into Ramsgate’s Georgian lighthouse

which was built in 1842. This lettering is clad in a special photoluminsecent vinyl. Twice a day with the tides, the

letters also disappear below the surface of the waves paying respect to lives lost at sea. Bond It’s GB PRO was chosen because it’s high strength, waterproof and available in a

transparent formula. GB PRO is highly versatile and can be used for most sealing and bonding applications. The GB PRO used was supplied free of charge by Bowman BMC. This Ramsgate

based supplier of maritime paint and maintenance consumables is a regular supporter of local charity. The current artwork is a temporary piece commissioned by local charity, Ramsgate

Arts. Due to its popularity, fundraising is now underway to make the artwork permanent and an auction of the existing temporary lettering was recently held. Kirstie Cooper, marketing manager at Bond It, said: “GB PRO is part of a growing range

of hybrid sealants and adhesives from Bond It based on advanced polymer technology. “Its use here provides an unusual but highly effective demonstration of its versatility and

performance, even under extreme and unusual conditions.” www.bond-it.co.uk

Liverpool apartments energised with help from Knauf Insulation

Residents of Marwood Towers in Liverpool are benefitting from improvements to the energy efficiency of their building and lower fuel bills thanks to the installation of Knauf Insulation’s Earthwool® RainScreen Slab BGV, as part of a major refurbishment and new build of the 15-storey residential tower block for the over 55s. Stuart Belfield, Operations Director at Willmott Partnership Homes, said: “Our aim was

to ensure that the properties were as energy efficient as possible, to help minimise operational running costs. We also needed to minimise the carbon footprint of the building. We specified Knauf Insulation’s Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV as they have an excellent thermal conductivity – allowing us to achieve a U-value of 0.3 W/m2K. Knauf Insulation’s RainScreen Slab BGV are lightweight and Euroclass A1 non-

combustible and have excellent water resistance, acting as a further defence against the rain penetration of a building. Independent Inspector, Bob Troughton, from WRT Consulting, said: “Earthwool

RainScreen Slab BGV is an excellent product; it is very easy to cut and work with, and it was the perfect product for this application – it will help to protect the building’s façade against the elements and keep energy costs low.”
