info@eastcorkjournal.ie Carrigtwohill Vintage Club’s Annual Table Quiz Takes Place this Friday

by ALAN SHEEHAN Carrigtwohill Vintage

Club’s annual table quiz takes place this Friday, 21 April. The Vintage Club’s

third annual table quiz will be held in Spratt’s Bar, Carrigtwohill from 8.30pm. A table of four costs €20 with the mon- ey going towards multi- ple charities at the end of the year. “The

quiz starts

8.30pm and we are hop- ing to kick off on time,” said Fergus Coomey of Carrigtwohill Vintage Club. “It is €20 for a table of four. It is an- nual and it is our third year of it. Derek Burke, our PRO and who most people know from Crys- tal Swing will be the emcee on the night.” There

will also be

spot prizes and a raffle held on the night. “We are certainly col-

lecting prizes,” said Mr Coomey, “but they look to be all sponsored by local businesses within Carrigtwohill.”

The money raised

on the night will be re- trained until the year of the year when the club holds its social night. Then the money will be officially handed over to multiple

charities and

worthy initiatives. Last year’s four beneficiaries were Marymount Hos- pice, Midleton Hospi- tal, Grenville House in Carrigtwohill, and Meals on Wheels in Carrigtwohill. “At the end of each

year any funds we col- lected will be divided up between charities, said Mr Coomey. “ What we do is we take anybody who has asked us for money or who a member picked out and we put their names into a hat and we pull four out. It might seem like an almost

backwards

way of doing it but it is a fair way. So the quiz is for a good cause and the night itself will be good. Any support would be appreciated and all are welcome on the night.”

East Cork Journal IMOKILLY PEOPLE Annual Golf Classic to be Held in May

ary 2014, with the idea made possible

through

the generosity of the late Maurice Moloney, pro- prietor of the East Cork Golf Club, who passed away late the following year. “It came about gener-

ally from the late Rich- ard O’Riordan who was a committee mem- ber,” said Mr Hayes. “It happened when the East Cork Rapid Re- sponse was just starting off and needed money fairly urgently to set up the organisation.

The

late Maurice Moloney of the East Cork Golf Club was always very good to us for all of our Classics.” East Cork Rapid Re-

sponse is a voluntary ser- vice which supplements the ambulance service by providing emergency pre-hospital care on par with ambulances at seri- ous emergency medical incidents such as cardiac arrests, road traffic colli- sions and other traumas such as farm accidents. ECRR is run on a vol- untary basis with the medical equipment and maintenance for the re- sponse car funded by public donations and all personnel working with- out pay. To book a tea time for

the ECRR Golf Classic contact Michael Hayes on 086 382 7743 or John Kelleher on 086 257 3347.
