U14 Match Report U14 East Cork League Lisgoold/Leamlara vs
Cobh On Saturday the 9th
of
April our U14 girls were in action
against Cobh
in Lisgoold. Cobh were on top early on in the game and despite a spir- ited comeback from Lis- goold/Leamlara in the last 10mins of first half

v
Youghal. We travelled to Youghal in what was a very entertaining game
and
Cobh would lead 1-5 to 0-3 at half time. Lisgoold growing in confidence in the second half took the game to Cobh. It was end to end football with spec- tators playing their part in cheering on this great team. Every time Cobh came forward the backs would swarm in and block out the threat by all means necessary. A penalty gave us the opportunity to win the game. Although the initial attempt
missed
there was no mistake with the rebound that rattled the back of the net. This game felt more like a final than a league game. Both teams played their part in this epic contest. At the final whistle players from both sides surrounded the referee
to see who had
edged it. A scream with up from the girls in Blue/ Gold. Lisgoold had won it!!! Lisgoold/Leamlara 3-4 to 1-8. Lisgoold/Leamlara

with our girls playing some lovely football, you could see the training has helped a lot of girls as our defence got in some great blocks and the kick passing between midfield and for- wards was a joy to watch, final score Lisgoold/ Leamlara 1-4 Youghal 3:3 Team Sarah Abbie Keira Molly Rachel C Rachel B Carasue Amy Aine (0:1) Siobhan Lainey (1:2) Lily Shona Chloe (0:1) Gem- ma Dahlia

to the pitch for their first match of
Wednesday last. For our first outing of
the year we had a clear goal of focusing on the ba- sics for the first game and ensuring that we kept our defence solid and keep the ball moving at all times. This game was also the
first Under 10 outing with a lot of our team making their debuts in the U10 age-group. All in all, we performed incredibly well
on the
night with a close fought game pivoting on two op- portunities that did not go our way. The cross bar was rattled twice to deny

us what would have been a lot closer score line and who knows what way the game would have swung. In the end, Amy Fahy
stood up and pointed our only point of the night, but the score line for this game does not reflect the effort and skill and attitude that the girls displayed in this dogged affair. The positives for the
girls to focus on are: 1. Attitude + Spirit: We
played the game at 100% from Start to Finish de- spite the score line. 2. Defence: We never
backed down and defend- ed like tigers from the For- wards to the Backs 3. Team: We got stuck in and helped each other out at all times. Team: Molly Cullinane, Erika Manning, Amy Fahy, Lucy O’Sullivan, Orlagh Hickey, Shona Dunphy, Niamh O’Mahony, Éab- ha Foley, Sophie Andrade, Jessica O’Leary, Kate Ahern, Megan O’Shea, Abbey O’Sullivan, Ava Guiney, Leah Fitzgerald

Junior Football Last Thursday evening were
we defeated in
Round three of the East Cork Junior A Champi- onship by Fr O’Neills in Youghal on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-07. The sides were dead the break at
locked at
1-05 a piece, a number of injuries disrupted our rhythm and they finished stronger. One
interesting fact
from the game, we used four goalkeepers … Pat- rick Dunlea started but went
off injured, Josh
Deady replaced him but was later black-carded, Declan Ryan then took over to be replaced late in the second half by Luke Dineen who made a few great saves … surely some sort of record ! Well done to the play-
ers for their efforts over the campaign and to the management
team of

we put up a very brave performance in the East Cork Junior B Football Championship first round against Bride Rovers first team in Lisgoold. Fielding a team mixed with youth and experience we lost out on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-06. Well done to everybody
associated with getting this team out, the selec- tors, John
Football secretary Ferriter
and the
players for committing to the game. Team: Conor O’Far-
