Fe12 Not many sleeps left for
our lucky U12’s... This is an Easter that
these boys
will never forget as they get to run out onto the field into Croke Park. It was with great excitement that we recently
received
an email from Kevin O’Callaghan offering our U12’s the opportunity of a lifetime for every GAA loving boy. Kevin is Cork Games Development Man- ager and he advised us that our club was selected for accreditation on the Benchmarking 2020 Vi- sion Initiative. This award recognises the hard work being undertaken in our club in the area of games development. It is hoped in the long-term that the re-
with a to be
wards of better games de- velopment structures in our club will eventually lead to better
playing standards
on the pitch. However in the short term Rebel Óg Coaching are
rewarding
our efforts by inviting our FE 12’s to participate in a blitz in CROKE PARK on Wednesday 19th Our boys will get
April. to play
3 x 13 minute games on the hallowed sod of Croke Park against
teams from
other Munster counties at 10 a side. The teams the boys are meeting are Bal- lyduff Lower, Askeaton/ Ballysteen/Kilcronan and Clonoulty Rossmore. The boys will also get a stadium tour and a museum tour as part of the day. There is great excitement in the Fe 12 Camp as players, men- tors and parents plan this trip, hopefully it will be the first of many occasions that our boys will play in Cro- ker. Have a great day and we look forward to hearing all about it.

Half-time score Right
from the whistle in the sec- ond half St Colman’s were working hard and they had the first score seconds after the throw-in. We traded points until eventually our opponents persistence paid off and they got one past our goalie. The score board read 5-05 to 1-11 and both teams were playing some fantastic fast paced hurl- ing. St Colman’s are al- ways dangerous on attack and our backs Darragh, George, Padraig, Colm, Brian and Robbie did a fantastic job in defending our goals. Ben between the posts pulled off some fantastic saves at
critical
moments in the game. St Colman’s did breach our defence for a second goad but we
responded with After a
slight delay the game got underway with Ben open- ing our scoring with a point from play. Ben put in a man of the match performance with 4-02 of our 5-02 first half scores coming off
the
stick of Ben. His first goal saw the Colman’s goalie get a touch but that didn’t stop the sliotar hitting the corner of the net. Minutes later a fantastic save by Ben Kelly Budds saw the ball come from the mouth of our goal, down the field and a shot off Ben saw it into the back of the St Colman’s net. All our for- wards were working hard and a lovely ball by Ryan to Ben saw him register his third goal. Remy was next to raise the green flag when he beat
the St Colman’s
backs to the ball and he gave the goalie no chance with a rocket of a shot. Ben
another fine point from Ben and the final score of the game was a point from Ciaran. When the fi- nal whistle blew Killeagh/ Ita’s were victorious on a full-time score of 6-09 to 2-14. Next outing for these boys will be a champion- ship clash against Valley Rovers next week. We are awaiting confirmation of date, venue and time.

the game in the melting pot up to the 50th

after which our forwards took advantage of the wind to add 1-7 without reply. Shane Kearney’s third goal on 57 minutes finally killed the game off, but this re-

Diaidh ar ndiaidh, áfach, our defend- ers tightened up, although green flags were raised at both ends rather quickly, firstly with Shane’s opening goal and then a response from O’Neill’s. Fionn Mc- Donnell and Padraig Le- ahy got excellent points on the left wing, but with half time approaching our hosts led by 1-8 to 1-6. In 60 sec- onds, the game turned on its head with Shane grab- bing his second following excellent work from Sean Walsh, and when Sean’s at- tempt at a point in the next play came down off the post, Jamie Clifford was in the right place to knock it home. This gave us a some- what flattering half-time lead of four points – 3-6 to 1-8. O’Neill’s repeated their opening half begin- ning with two points in the first three minutes, but once again our defenders got on top, with sweep- er Barry Motherway and full-back Richie handling the

threat well, and our mid- dle lines also very effective. Richie Long and Padraig Leahy switched wings in a move which benefitted both players, and Keane Budds continued his great work in midfield, ably as- sisted by Olan Broderick. Keane’s ability to cover acres of ground and take scores when the opportuni- ty arises is a great asset to any team. Healthy Clubs Project Killeagh Healthy Clubs is an initiative
Project
jointly run by the 4 clubs using Páirc Uí Chinnéide namely, Killeagh GAA, Killeagh Camogie, Inch Rovers Ladies Football and Killeagh-Ita’s Juvenile GAA Clubs. The project has been running since February 2016 and many activities and changes in practices have taken place under its direction. There have been monthly walks, a CouchTo5K running group, Páirc Uí Chinnéide has gone ‘smoke-free’, and there has been an emphasis on healthy eating in activ- ities run by all four clubs. In recognition of the work done to date, the Killeagh Healthy Clubs Project has been selected as one of the ‘Champion Clubs’ to spread the message of healthy living to other clubs and communities. The Healthy Clubs Pro-
