OTHER EVENTS Youghal GAA
U-14 Camogie vs. St Finbarr’s Our U14 team travelled to Togher for our 2nd
league
game of the year on Friday 7th
April. The Barrs took
the lead with a well taken goal inside 2 minutes of throw in. However it was to be a real battle for the rest of the half with our backs under an awful lot of pres- sure but winning each indi- vidual battle. We went in at half time 1-4 to 1-3 down, with all our scores coming from Chloe O’ Connell at full forward. Youghal dom- inated the 2nd
half and held
The Barrs scoreless until the 57th
minute when the
scored a scrambled goal. Prior to that Chloe O’ Con- nell scored 1-2 in a 5 minute scoring spree that broke the resistance of the Barrs girls. Final score Youghal 2-5, St Finbarrs 2-4. Next game hone to Enniskeane, Satur- day 22nd

U14’s report for Feile Peil On Saturday 1st
April
the U14’s boys headed off to Glanmire to take part in the group stages of Feile Peil. Youghal travelled with a full squad and were well
2. CLUBS NURS-
ERY continues in Páirc Ui Chinnéide every Saturday 12.00-12.45 for 3-5 year old boys and girls. 3. HEALTHY SOCIAL MEDIA / CYBERBUL- LYING: We will have a guest speaker, John O’Dw-
prepared for the task ahead. Each game was 12 min-
utes a side so it was impor- tant to get off to a good start. Their first match was against
home side Glanmire. We had the advantage
the favourites and of
yer, visiting Páirc Uí Chin- néide on Wednesday April 26th
. The theme of his talks
is “HEALTHY SOCIAL MEDIA and CYBERBUL- LYING”. John will talk initially to teenagers (6.00- 7.30)
and afterwards to parents (8.00-9.30) about a
slight wind in the first half but didn’t take our chances to score. Rory Fitzgerald, Sean Hehir and Micheál Breathnach in the backline held out to the pressure of the strong Glanmire team and we finished the first half with one point each. Conor Savage kept Youghal in the game with some great saves on the goal line. The wind picked up for the sec- ond half and the Youghal boys found it very withstand the pressure from a very strong Glanmire team. Kyle Hennessy, Nathan Daly and Wisdom Sobo put a lot of pressure on the oppo- sition by failed to gain any scores. Glanmire finished the stronger on a score line of Youghal 0-1 v Glanmire 1-4. A disappointing result for our lads as they played some excellent football but didn’t have the luck with them for this game. Next up was St. Michaels
and the Youghal lads got off to a slow start again but managed to start
to pull
away just before the half- time whistle with some love- ly scores from Enda Cronin, Leon Hennessy and Ryan Heaphy. It was great to see Oisin Hill, Michael McCa- rthy, Eoin McGrath and Sean O Riordan show some great skills and team work and proved too strong for St. Michaels beating them comfortably on a score line of Youghal 3.5 v St. Mi- chaels 1.0. In the third game the
Youghal team came up against St.
Nicholas and
once again we showed some excellent passages of play resulting in some beautiful scores.
There were some
great performances by Cu- lann Geary and Corrie Sav- age but it was our forwards the shined with Conor
Butler Roche Conal Doyle putting in a great effort. We proved too strong for their opponents and made a great contribution to their second victory of the day. Final score Youghal 2.6 v St. Nicholas 0.2 Unfortunately
for
Youghal they had to play four games in a row with- out any break and the op- position for the final match was Ballygarvan. Youghal had to win this match and hope that Glanmire would lose their final match to be in with a chance to win the group stages and qualify for the semi-finals on the fol- lowing day. The Youghal boys got
off to a strong start and fought hard to take the lead. Jack Nicholson, Devon O Donoghue and Josh Per- suad dug deep while a tired and struggling Youghal side keep the pressure on Bal- lygarvan in what
proved
to be an excellent battle. It was a score for score game and one Youghal had to win to stay in contention to win the group stages. It was hard for the Youghal lads to concentrate on their own match knowing that the result of Glanmire’s fi- nal game which was being played in the next pitch at the same time was so impor- tant to them. However, they fought hard and continued to give a display in football to secure the win in their fourth and final game on a scoreline of Youghal 2.4 v Ballygarvan 1.4. As the final whistle blew turned our attention pitch and to
we to the next
our disappointment Glan- mire won their final game to advance to the semi-fi- nals. Glanmire
deserved
their victory and went on to win the semi-final to secure their place in the fi- nal against Douglas. The final took place on Sunday morning in St. Finnbarrs GAA club and it was Doug- las who went on to win and will represent Cork in this year’s Feile Peile finals. Best
of luck to Douglas in the All-Ireland Feile.
Fé 14 Hurling – First league Match of the Year. On Wednesday 5th
this very important and topical subject. The talk for teenagers is free; we are asking parents / adults who come to contribute €5 on the night to cover costs. We will have more details to follow in the coming days.
April
the under 14 hurling team headed off to Belgooly to play Sliabh Rua for their first hurling league game of the year. Youghal lined out with a strong team and soon took a commanding lead and dominated in all areas of the pitch. The half time
score was Youghal
3.7 v Sliabh Rua 0.4. The second half showed a dif- ferent side to Sliabh Rua as they had scored 3.4 within the first ten minutes of the second half to Youghal’s 3points.
It was all to play
for now and as this Youghal side have done on many a day, they dug deep and got themselves back into the game and took control of the match. Youghal had a strong bench to avail of and the substitutes proved them- selves to be able hurlers. Ours lads definitely finished the stronger and once again pulled away from the oppo- sition finishing the match on a scoreline of Youghal 6.15 v Sliabh Rua 3.8 Scores: Oisin Hill 3.4,
Nathan Daly 0.3, Devon O’Donoghue 1.6 (0.4 frees) Sean O’Riordan 0.2 and Ryan Heaphy 1.0 . Team: Jack Corcoran,
Sean Hehir, Conor Sav- age, Rory Fitzgerald, Josh Persuad, Culann Geary, Micheál Breathnach, Dev- on Donoghue, Sean O’Ri- ordan, Corrie Lewis, Enda Cronin, Nathan Daly, Wisdom Sobo, Oisin
Hill, Kyle Hennessy, De- clan Daly, Ryan Heaphy, Conor Butler Roche, Eoin McGrath, Morgan Twohig.
