Jamie Mason is one of

my favorite new discover- ies. Sure, she has been around a while, but until I was fortunate enough to be on an authors panel with her last month, I

wasn’t aware of her writing. I am so glad I found her. The New York Times called her debut

novel Three Graves Full “ripping good.” Now she is back with an all new thriller about Dee Aldrich, a woman who starts digging into her own past and uncovers a shocking secret - her husband is working toward a new life - one without her - regardless of whatever means it may take to achieve his goal. Dee is haunted by the memories of her late

mother, a former covert operations agent, and she recalls the “spy games” they played together when she was a child. The one thing that stands out in her mind is the lesson of how and when to lie. Through all of her intro- spection, Dee comes to learn that her mother left her quite lot of money in her will, but her husband apparently knows more about the money than she does, and the plot thickens. Mondays Lie continues with more of the

mystery and suspense that made Three Graves Full a hit. It’s a little Coen Brothers and a bit of Gillian Flynn. A well written, tightly plotted five star book. Grab a copy of Mondays Lie on your way to the beach (or the mountains) and allow yourself to fall into Jamie Mason’s exciting and suspenseful novel.

-Michael Buffalo Smith I cannot believe I have had this book for

several months and am just now getting around to reading it, but to be honest, I have a stack of books about four feet high to re- view, as well as about 40 CD’s coming in per month. Still, Moffitt has written a truly enjoy- able memoir. Moffitt is a musician and a music lover who

has had life experiences any rock and roll lover would envy. He is one part Kerouac, one part Merry Prankster, and one part Tom Wolfe. The author did something most people never dare do, he followed his dream. The dream lead him into the heart of the beast - rock and roll, sex, drugs - all of the fun things. Along the way he befriended celebrities, hung with biker gangs, hitchhiked hundreds of miles, attended pot parties and Rainbow Gatherings, saw UFOs and even found true love. At one point he even found himself work-

ing for rock legend Bill Graham, the leg- endary promoter behind the Grateful Dead scene. Rising through the ranks of major con- cert production, Moffitt has worked with a long and impressive list of bands, promotors and business people, from The Allman Broth- ers to Blues Traveler, Phish and Widespread Panic, among others. From his adolescent adventures, like

smoking a joint in the parking lot with WASP at age 14, to LSD-soaked cross-country tours following the Dead, to true love, this is an in- triguing tale, because the author leads with his heart. It is a spiritual, romantic, drug and rock and roll fueled story that you will not be able to put down. Believe me, once I started, I could not stop. Hey, it’s only rock and roll but I like it!
