Bob, the last time I saw him. Cellar Club, Spartanburg.

saw one another and played shows together often. He was always happy and funny with a lot of energy and a genuinely nice guy. He re- mained this way through life and was always a pleasure to be around. After his Skynyrd days we didn't see each other for years at a time but, whenever our paths crossed he was always the same Bob. During the past fifteen years we had the op-

portunity to play together at times when he was a guest drummer and it was always a blast. Never, even once did I hear an unkind word from him about anything connected to the past. He was as friendly to a person meet- ing him for the first time as he was to long time friends. Happy to talk, have photos taken, sign autographs, never hurried, simply enjoying the moment as much as the person he was with for one or two minutes or a half hour. My last time spent with him was one year ago for five days and it was simply a pleasure to be around him and talk about life, music, current projects and anything else, rel- evant or not. I loved him as a person, a dear friend and for who and what he was, a nice, kind man. - Greg T. Walker

The trio of Bob, Billy & Leon could've easily succeeded in the reality show business. All so very talented and the most naturally funny people I have ever met. - Ed King

Alan Walden and Bob atr Grant’s, 2012.

The first time that I met Bob Burns was at Grants Lounge in Macon. He was wearing a smile that was as big as he was. In fact every time that I've been with Bob he was smiling. He seemed to enjoy meeting fans and would always take time to speak and pose for a photo. One memory that was very flattering for me was when he asked me to play bass for the set he was about to play. I told him that we'd never played together and I was sure that he had his own bass player lined up for the gig but he just smiled, said I was his bass player that night and to have a good time. Boy did we have some fun that night. He was a bass player's drummer for sure. He knocked the heck out of the drums when he played. One of the hardest hitting drummers that I've know. - Joey Parrish, Silver Travis Band

Bob Burns ! The first time I heard Lynyrd Skynyrd I though to myself, who is this band and were did this KICK ASS drummer come from? So back in the day I would sit behind my drums, and play along with the album Pronounced and then came Second Helping - day in and day out till I got it down. You would think, man, listen to them guitars! But not me. I would say, man listen to that drummer! Burns was one of Southern Rock’s Finest Drummers and always will be. May he rest in peace in Rock & Roll Heaven. - Tim Fodrey / Jimmie Van-Zant Band (2000) & Rhythm Pigs
