photos with the stars all day long. No charge. They would autograph your stuff for free as well. I remember many of us raising cain be- cause William Shatner would only sign his 2- record LP set, which could be purchased for eight bucks. Chicken feed, fellow nerds. Try getting a celebrity photo and signature for less than $60 nowadays. And the pro shot photo ops are much more. But it’s a different world these days. Number two:
Costumes. I have never seen this amount of sheer perfection in cos- tuming outside the gates of Hol- lywood. Just amazingly de- tailed costumes. By far the most popular costume for girls this year was Harley Quinn, the Joker’s favorite hottie. There were more Harley’s than a Son’s of Anarchy Convention. (Yes, we will get to that.) There were a couple of Quinns that stood head and shoulders above the rest, but who am I to judge. I met at least five Batmen, most dressed in the Christian Bale style suit, one in the Adam West outfit and one similar to Michael Keaton. No George Clooney’s. Sorry ladies. I saw an Ace Frehley, a Gene Simmons
Widow, several Dr. Who’s and one extra tall Thor. Speaking of tall, everyone stopped in their tracks when Groot came in. Now that’s one tall, talking piece of wood! And by the way, the girls these days do not
mind showing off their bodies. More cleavage than a Dolly Parton concert. And legs every- where. (A few even growing out of the sides of their heads.)
Besides all

the eye candy, there were liter- ally hundreds of choices of dif- ferent ways to spend your every waking moment over the four day event. No mat- ter where you turned, there was something exciting hap- pening. The very first booth we ran across
(Eric saw a second Gene in Dressed to Kill attire), Steampunks, zombies, mermaids, princesses, Daryl Dixon, Rick Grimes, Walter White/Heisenberg, many Star Trek and Star Wars characters (old and new), several clones of Wonder Woman, Captain America, The Flash (including the original Flash that looked like the FTD Flowers guy), Green Lantern, the Hulk, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black
on day one was the booth for Dark Horse Comics, one of my personal favorite publish- ers. One thing that caught my eye and made me laugh was a new title called Archie Vs. Predator. That’s right folks, America’s per- ineal teenager goes up against the same alien creatures that once gave Arnold Schwarzenegger a run for his money. The guys working the booth told us that in thirty minutes the comic’s writer would be signing. We returned and met the lovely Alex Di Campi, a well respected writer and Eisner Award Nominee. who signed our special edi- tion Phoenix Comic Con only books, Betty & Veronica vs. Predator. Now we’re talking! Of course my favorite parts of the con were
the star panels and the photo-ops. The first panel we experiences featured three stars of the cult classic The Rocky Hor-
