What’s New
Delaware County is home to many large regional and national companies (such as SAP America and Boeing Corporation), and it also is a pop- ular tourist destina-
tion that is home to numerous attrac- tions, including: the Brandywine Battlefield, Brandywine River Museum, PA Veteran's Museum, and IceWorks Skating Complex (host of national Olympic Championship events and training center for Olympic skaters).
PPL Park is a huge draw for soccer fans (it is the home of the Philadelphia Union) - and for special events large and small, too, such as an upcoming international dog show, for example. Sun Center Film Studios, which opened its first phase of film production studios in Delaware County, is planning to add a state-of-the-art film attraction in the

coming years that will include multiple restaurants and at least one hotel.
With a 4.5 percent jump in the county’s 2013 hotel occupancy rate, existing and new industries are driving current and future demand for hotel rooms serving both the leisure and corporate travel markets. In fact, six new hotels are planned to open here within the next 18 months to two years:
A Courtyard by Marriott officially opened in the county in September 2013. It fea- tures 92 overnight rooms as well as an on site eatery called The Bistro.
Ridley Township, located on the Delaware River, has approved two hotels for a larger development that will include a community center and restau- rants. Swarthmore College has approvals for a 40-room boutique hotel that will include the otherwise dry bor- ough’s only liquor license.
In addition, there is a hotel planned for the Ellis Preserve near SAP’s U.S. head- quarters in Newtown Square.
Formerly the Ramada Inn Philadelphia is now the Clarion Hotel with a completely renovated lobby, banquet facility and rooms. The Clarion Hotel is convenient to the airport, major highways and local attractions.
At the Deck at Harbor Pointe, situated on the Delaware River, two recently ren- ovated hotels, the Waterfront Inn and the Holiday Inn Express give you access to the restored docks and piers on the River as well as a beautiful view of the Delaware River and beyond. A two thousand square foot, multi-tiered deck extends over the river as well as nightly entertainment, make these facili- ties unique unto themselves.
