When catering to smaller meeting groups, the HHRVB has a wealth of options to avail- able to accommodate groups and requests of nearly any setting or price point, includ- ing over 8,000 area hotel rooms and a wide variety of versatile venues for meetings, conventions, trade shows and sporting events. “The region is filled with unique venues - from the opulence of The Hotel Hershey to the scale of one-million square feet of event space at the PA Farm Show Complex and Expo Center,” says Altland.
For smaller clients in particular, the region excels in the “size and settings”department. “Many of our clients seek out the unique and intimate settings at venues such as the Antique Auto Museum or The Hershey Theatre in Hershey, and The National Civil War Museum or the State Capitol Complex in Harrisburg,” Altland said. “But there also are the wildcard venues we like to expose them to when they work with our bureau, like the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in nearby Grantville, the Vineyard at Hershey in Middletown, Tröegs Brewery in Hershey,
or Roundtop Mountain Resort in Lewisberry.”
Altland notes that what meeting and event planners will quickly realize is that the Hershey Harrisburg Region can accommo- date the large national gatherings, but it also is ideal for small meeting planners who want make a big impression with their attendees. “The region annually hosts a variety of associations and groups, as well as large and small sports tournaments. For example, the bureau works with the Christian Home School association annu- ally, and just hosted the American Rabbit Breeders Association’s national convention and show in October of 2013, as it will the Mennonite World Conference in July 2015. The bureau also works regularly with the producers of the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling tournament; Keystone State Summer Games/State Games of America; and the U.S. Junior National Hershey Showcase girls’ basketball tournament.”
Depending on the size and scale of event, the bureau’s services run the gamut from site tours and selection assistance to addi- tional marketing and communications assistance. “The bureau also proudly repre- sents a variety of specialty restaurants and catering services that can provide addi-
