CHILDREN’S PAINTING COMPETITION Draw or paint a picture of what you like best in Swanage, on paper not less than 26 x 21 cm, to be in with a chance of winning this year’s great competition!


Classes: 1. Five years & under 2. Six to nine years 3. Ten to twelve years


All entries must be handed in at the Tourist Information Centre, Shore Road, no later than 12 noon on Thursday 2nd August. Please make sure that your entry has your name, age, address and class number clearly marked on the back.


The prize-giving will be at 11.30am (approx) following the Pavement Artists’ Competition on Friday 3rd August (near the Mowlem on the Seafront) where the winning pictures will be displayed. Unclaimed prizes, pictures and winners’ names will also be available at the Tourist Information Centre on Shore Road. CARNIVAL 2012

O BEACH COMBERS’ ART


Walk along the shoreline and gather what you can find to make a collage picture. Swanage Beach wardens and the staff for Swanage Tourist Information Centre will judge your pictures.

Wed, Thur, Fri & Sat 7.00pm ’til the Live Music - Sandpit Field As one of the top family-focused events in the country, Swanage Carnival has added some fantastic, new family entertainment to its ever growing events programme.


On four evenings during Carnival week, we invite people of all ages to make their way to Sandpit Field for 7pm to spectate or participate in the range of family events. These include children’s entertainers, karaoke, story tellers, a fun quiz and much more!


So, pop along to Sandpit Field during the day, to see what is lined up for that evening.

11.30am to 11.00pm - Marquee, Sandpit Field Quench your thirst from a range of adult and children’s drinks whilst enjoying glorious views of Swanage Bay from our enclosed family garden area. We have Carling lager, ‘Magners Golden Draught’ extra-cold draught cider, and a choice of fine ales from the Isle of Purbeck Brewery.

RACE AGAINST STAN, CHILDREN’S TREASURE HUNT

Saturday to Friday 10.00am - Carnival Caravan, Shore Road Follow the picture clues around the town to find the numbers that will help you race against Swanage Stan for the Carnival Sailing Gold.


This activity is unsupervised so children must be accompanied by an adult.


Suitable for children of reading age to 14 years.


Entry forms are £1.50 and available from 10.00am daily, at the Carnival Caravan.

ADULT FOOT TREASURE HUNT


Saturday to Friday 10.00am - Carnival Caravan, Shore Road Follow the cryptic, rhyming clues that lead you to some of the lesser known parts of Swanage. This is the ideal Carnival activity for those who want to exercise, not only their legs, but also their little grey cells.


So, if you are tired of sand in your sandwiches and Sandpit Field - get hunting, alone or in packs!


A small cash prize and the coveted certificate go the winners.


Entry forms are £3.00 and are available from 10.00am daily, at the Carnival Caravan.
