Purbeck Strings has developed an annual programme of events of which the March ‘Purbeck Strings Festival’ is the centrepiece.

The main stage on the seafront is the perfect spot for everyone to relax, listen and enjoy. So, come along and be charmed by the sweet sound of strings by the sea.

MAVIS GRIND Tuesday 31st July 8.00pm to 9.15pm

There is no question that Carnival music fans will welcome the return of Mavis Grind, a funked-up, four-piece rock band from rural Hampshire, with an eclectic sound built around funky drums, punchy bass lines, rocking guitar riffs and grooving keyboards.

As many will have seen in previous years, the band plays with a genuinely powerful passion and quality. Lead guitarist Stu Robertson combines his intuitive playing with a fantastic balance of power and sensitivity, but far from being a one-man show, the essential rhythmic backbone of the Mavis sound is collectively formed with Dave Evans on keyboards, Pete Beckley, bass, and Chris Todhunter on drums.

Once again, you just know, you’ve got to be at the main stage for this set! 28
