FIREWORKS DISPLAYS Saturday 28th July, Wednesday 1st and Saturday 4th August at approximately 9.45pm – Seafront

The Swanage Regatta & Carnival Fireworks Displays provide a spectacular highlight to three evenings of Carnival week; they are the first Saturday, the Wednesday and the last Saturday.

Once again, we are extremely pleased to have a leading pyrotechnics team to provide displays that never fail to awe and amaze the crowds of gasping onlookers, whose “oohs” and “aahs” echo around the bay. Each year’s display succeeds in outshining the previous one and this year will be no exception!

This year’s fireworks displays will, again, be provided by Pains Fireworks Ltd, one of the most famous names in British fireworks. Pains is delighted to be presenting all three firework displays and promises evenings of fantastic pyrotechnics.

The company has a history that goes all the way back to Guy Fawkes himself (407 years in 2012). Its hectic schedule of major displays is now spread throughout the whole year and not just around the more traditional date of the 5th November. www. painsfireworks.co.uk

There are many vantage points around the bay, whether from the Seafront, Recreation Ground, Sandpit Field, the Downs or near the Quay, so make your way to any of these spots and await a splendid time! The displays will be fired from the jetty in the centre of the bay, so you will have a great view from all across Swanage.

THE RED ARROWS

Sunday 29th July, 1.00pm - over Swanage Bay

DON’T FORGET - to bring lots of loose change when you come on any of these nights! Our volunteers will be among the crowd collecting for the benefiting charities.

We hope you will enjoy!

PS If you enjoyed this year’s displays, then we are pleased to tell you that you can continue to enjoy our ‘Firework Extravaganzas’ on Saturday nights throughout August.

Swanage Carnival welcomes the return of the unsurpassed aerobatic skills of the Red Arrows in the skies over Swanage Bay, the perfect venue to provide stunning views of the team’s performance.

Acknowledged as one of the world’s premier aerobatic teams, the Red Arrows promote the professional excellence of the Royal Air Force, assist in recruiting into the Royal Air Force, contribute to Defence Diplomacy and support wider British interests through the promotion of British industry overseas.

The Red Arrows consist of over 100 officers and airmen drawn from throughout the Royal Air Force. Officially formed on 1 March 1965, the team have now performed over 4,000 displays in 53 different countries and are based at Royal Air Force Scampton in Lincolnshire.

The display this year is being flown as a seven-aircraft formation instead of the usual nine. However, the team will still be flying a number of high-profile fly-past’s in classic nine-aircraft ‘Big Battle’

formation. All Red Arrows display pilots are fast jet pilots from frontline Royal Air Force squadrons. Following their three-year tour they will return to their Royal Air Force duties.

To apply for selection to the Team, pilots must first meet certain criteria: a minimum of 1,500 flying hours, have completed a frontline tour and be assessed as being above average in their flying role. Three new pilots are chosen each year to replace the three that have finished their tour.

The exhilarating display will be accompanied by a superb commentary from a member of the Red Arrows Ground Team, and we are indebted to Mike Dimarco Sound Systems for providing the commentary relay to make this possible.
