PROCESSIO Welcome to Swa

Going for Carnival Gold is our theme for 2012

‘Going for Carnival Gold’ will be an epic 8 day spectacular of music, games, competitions and enjoyment for all the family. Every year Swanage Carnival is a spectacle like no other and 2012 will be the ‘The Gold Medal Event’ to beat them all! Procession Sunday showcases the biggest and best Carnival on the South Coast, with a 2.5 mile route winding its way along the scenic seafront and town centre, flanked by thousands of spectators. Music plays a major part, with six bands performing a great mix of drums and pipes, rock, samba, soca and jazz. As well as the ever popular Rampage, this year we welcome back another costumed ‘Mas Band’ Masquerade 2000 or M2K as they are affectionately known. The dancing and costumes created by these two groups provide a vibrant and colourful spectacle. The cleverly crafted themed tableaux along with clowns and costumed walkers make this Carnival, a ‘Must See’ event.

Prior to the Procession, along the seafront, the crowds are entertained with a parade of Beach Buggies, Motorbikes, Carnival Bands and Clowns. On the Carnival Showground, overlooking the magnificent bay, there is more entertainment; sideshows and amusements, a variety of food outlets and the ‘Carnival Arms’ in the marquee or the popular ‘Pimm’s Bar’ where you can enjoy a refreshing drink. There is something for everyone at this fantastic show.
