VENUE 097

The décor at Pangaea has an African influence

within the multi-faceted Crystal does not leave any room for error. “It should also be noted, that Pangaea is fully underwater requiring the world’s finest hydrodynamic engineers, probably another nightclub first. To give an esoteric example, the Crystal Pavilion’s monthly utility bill is larger than the total budget of most clubs to build.” A discreet audio solution was required at Pangaea, and John continued to specify products from the same manufacturer he’d selected for Avalon, putting his faith in Fulcrum for a second time. John chose loudspeakers with wide dispersion angles so the sound would reach every corner of the club. The four Fulcrum Prophile M dual 12-inch coaxial loudspeakers and 15 Fulcrum Prophile S dual 8-inch loudspeakers meant the aesthetics were not compromised as he was able to install fewer units. John also specified five Fulcrum Prophile CCX12-P 12-inch ceiling speakers which sit flush to the ceiling, plus two Fulcrum US212 dual 12-inch subwoofers, four Fulcrum Sub215 dual 15-inch subwoofers and a Fulcrum Sub115 15-inch subwoofer to complete the system. Amplification was entrusted to Crown - one MA9000 amplifier, 11 MA5000 amplifiers, one CDI 4000 amplifier and one Crown CDI2000 amplifier - power the sound system. The Macro-Tech Series produce reliable low end, a well defined mid section and smooth, detailed highs. The ideal criteria for the high-end ultra lounge. And a BSS Soundweb London BLU system is in control of processing. Michael truly believes in this particular expansion of the brand, and is excited to see where this may lead in the future. He said: “This was a herculean project, and it gives all new meaning to the term, team effort. However unlikely, even if a meteor from space destroyed the clubs tomorrow, Pangaea and the Crystal Pavilion will, no doubt, be the cap stone on a great many of our careers.” Marina Bay Sands will continue to evolve, with yet more attractions in the pipeline, all of which will open in the near future. With Singapore is fast becoming a place that has a great deal to offer its inhabitants and tourists alike - in the form of a varied entertainment package - its popularity is sure to grow. Looking back into history to sum up the future, Michael concluded: “Upon landing Apollo 11 on the Moon in 1969, Neil Armstrong captured the moment with his illustrious worlds, ‘the eagle has landed’.”
