The Centro is Europe’s biggest shopping and leisure centre, conveniently located close to the centre of Oberhausen. From the 24 September until the 2 October 2011, the Centro hosted its Centro Fashion Week, which was made up of an impressive curved Barco MiSTRIP LED catwalk that had previously been used by the likes of George Michael and Bon Jovi. A coolux Pandoras Box Server PRO was used to play out more than 460 movie-clips on the LED catwalk. During the Centro Fashion Week, major apparel companies let models present their latest clothes lines for this year’s fall season. Celebrities like Germany’s Next Top Model winner Sara Nuru and acclaimed make up artist Boris Entrup added to the success of this event. The catwalk was approximately 14 metres long, had a width of four metres and extended to an overall height of approximately six metres at its highest point. Five K Managing Director, Werner Kokott, was responsible for integrating the large number of different media files, including those created by himself. One of the main themes explored through the use of the impressive LED catwalk was the notion of an ‘Indian Summer’ and related colours. Kokott not only programmed, but operated the coolux Pandoras Box Server during the shows as well.

The Centro Fashion Week event was challenging in many different ways, since more than 20 international brands had to feel that the media and show display was doing justice to both the overall event and their brand in particular. The lighting set-up was controlled via a MA Lighting grandMA console, which was also used to trigger the coolux Pandoras Box Server system. The Pandoras Box’s real time render engine enabled Kokott to implement important content changes within a very short period of time. “It’s not just the video which we play out via the Pandoras Box, but the sound as well. In this particular setting it wouldn’t have made any sense to tell the sound guys three, two, one... go.” which is why I decided to put the extra clips on the timeline. Working with the Box is a lot of fun and allows me to change my content on the fly.” The audience was able to enjoy a varied display of beautiful media content that underlined the quality of the fashion brands on the catwalk. Amongst all the beauti- ful autumn and winter related imagery, one was also able to spot one of Werner Kokott’s trademark designs on the huge Barco MiSTRIP LED strips were pristine snow flakes flying upwards. www.coolux.de
