The Salon at Kitty Su DELHI BY NIGHT

DELHI, INDIA ASIA/PACIFIC/OCEANIA

In October last year, between the Prolight + Sound Shanghai and the Broadcast India shows, I stopped in Delhi for a couple of days to meet with distribution and integration company, Most Technical India (MTI). I’d been told many things about the city of Delhi and it certainly lived up to my expectations. It has so much to offer on the entertainment front, and during my stay I had the opportunity to sample four of the latest additions to Delhi nightlife. Arjun Bahl, Director of Most Technical, India along with Praket Priyanku - who worked closely with Arjun and MTI Technical Director Dave Parry on the design and installations - were my tour guides. Our tour began with Kitty Su.

KITTY SU The five star LaLiT hotel has boasted an entertainment venue for some time. However, its most recent transformation into Kitty Su - a £2 million renovation - means its former self is unrecognisable. The concept of Kitty Su is based around a mythical character. She possessed strong will, was a renowned patron of the arts, and travelled the world enjoying the finer things in life, champagne and cigarettes. Kitty Su the club is a legacy to the lustrous life of Kitty Su

the discerning woman. Keshav Suri, Executive Director of the Bharat Group of Hotels Limited Enterprise - the group that owns The LaLiT - was responsible for the conceptualisation of the club along with the group’s MD Jyotsna Suri and Interior Designer Bobby Mukherjee. While Keshav turned to MTI to ensure the club was kitted out with cutting edge audio and lighting technology. Dave explained why he thought MTI won the contract at Kitty Su. He said: “I think it was down to experience and having a track record. Elevate is still in many people’s minds as the standard they want to better, and being involved with that seminal club did us no harm. The owner is also a fabric [nightclub] regular, which again probably helped swing it in our favour.” Upon entering the underground club you are met by two pillars, which symbolise a temple. The ethos of Kitty Su was to represent Indian culture but with a modern twist. The main room within the 13,000 sq ft venue is The Salon. This is home to the dancefloor, a large bar area, the DJ booth plus two premium tables and two normal tables, which are available for hire. Dave selected Void Acoustics as the best audio solution for the club. For the main dancefloor area, Dave specified four Void Air Motions, which offer a well-balanced and uniform output. The way in which the sound waves travel through the air is based on the spheroid section
