Surgeries

As winter approaches, rodents who have spent the warmer months outside start to look inside for warm, cosy sites to over-winter. They will take up residence in lofts, cellars and any other quiet corners away from the cold.

Once inside, rodents will continue to breed and will go looking or a food source and make their way to kitchens and food storage areas.

For all queries relating to rodent prevention and control, call the local experts with over 10 years experience on 07769 802651 or email gary@ redpestcontrol.co.uk

My new round of surgeries in the Renfrewshire North and West constituency began lately, with visits to Bridge of Weir, Houston, Erskine, Bishopton, Renfrew and Gallowhill all of which were well attended. I would like to remind everyone that I am more than happy to offer assistance where I can and should surgery times not be suitable you can also get in touch with my staff at the offi ce to arrange an appointment. Contact details are listed below.

Visit to Bridge of Weir

I recently visited the Scottish Leather Group at Bridge of Weir where I was given a tour and shown the facilities at the site. The company was formed in 1965 and is the largest manufacturer of bovine leather in the UK providing supplies to some of the top names in the automotive and airline industries.

I was extremely impressed with the company’s zero waste initiative at a time when green issues are still very much at the top of the agenda, their signifi cant progress is defi nitely a step in the right direction in making Scotland a zero waste society.

Companies like this help Scotland set the standards in innovation and technology, helping us become world leaders in the fi eld. We can already see the green shoots of this happening now and I am certain we are in a prime position to be at the forefront for many years to come.

Be Aware of Bogus Doorstep Callers

I am supporting the ‘Give with Care Campaign’ launched by the Institute of Fundraising and the Fundraising Standards Board, and would like to alert constituents who give unwanted goods on their doorstep to charitable causes to be careful when doing so to ensure that the goods reach genuine benefi ciaries.

It is a sad reality that some bogus fi rms are in operation collecting doorstep donations and misleading the public into believing that they are being sold for charitable causes, or in some instances stealing goods intended for charities.

Doorstep collections form an important part of the business of genuine charities I want to encourage those who donate to carry on doing so, but to also take care to ensure they are giving to legitimate charities.
