Lochwinnoch Community Buyout Group AGM

The LCBG AGM will be on Tuesday 22nd November at 7.30pm in Lochwinnoch Bowling Club.

LCBG is trying to gauge villagers’ feelings about renewing LCBG’s community right to buy the old Struthers which expires next spring. We have a chance over the next few months to show that we villagers still feel strongly that this site is a potential asset too important to the village to be lost. Once again, we must show by petition that at least 10% of villagers (who appear on the electoral roll) wish to have the right to buy the factory and its land.

Members of the public are, of course, very welcome to attend the AGM. We hope that you will become involved in reaching the target number of signatures (300) and also show your support by becoming a member. Petitions and membership forms will be available at the AGM.

The Old Library Centre Kilbarchan

We have had an enquiry asking if we had a craft group. If there are suffi cient people interested in attending such a group we would be delighted. The timing will be provisionally Monday night or Tuesday afternoon. This will be arranged to suit the majority. The initial idea is to have an informally run group who could gain information from each other about a number of differing crafts: no committee members and only the Library House rules being applied. If you are interested in coming to such an activity, please contact the Centre: 9 High Barholm; 01505 706070. The Centre is open 10am -12noon and 2pm - 4pm. Mon-Fri and 7.30pm -9.30pm Mon and Wed.

The new venture of the Centre’s cognate group is the tailoring of our web site www.kipcokil.com so that access is available on mobile devices. We are hoping that this will attract the input of some other people who might be willing to bring fresh ideas to the Centre.

The Centre is run by volunteers, who would be delighted to get more help. The monthly concerts require the setting out of the Community Room and the clearing of this room for the Yoga and Pilates classes. The team need more help. Can you give half an hour of your time? You know the old saying many hands make light work. Please help. We won’t pay you or ask for you for money. We will ask you to move tables and chairs and to take a turn of the vacuum. However, we will give you a cup of tea or coffee, a biscuit, good humour and the satisfaction of volunteering. Please help.

Information about the Centre’s classes, events and services such as photocopying are posted on the Library Window and on our web site.

Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park Round Up Classic Cars Roll into Castle Semple!

Sunday 25th September was a day to remember down by the lochside with Ford Consuls, Zephers,

Escorts and a whole lot more! Lot’s of people were reminiscing about what they used to own and chatting to owners. The event was organised by members of the Pre 67 Ford Owners Club who were also celebrating their 30th birthday that weekend. See the Regional Park’s facebook page for more images of the day (facebook. com/clydemuirshielregionalpark).

A Tale of a Tawny Owl

Some of our facebook followers may remember a beautiful photograph we posted back in May of a newly ringed tawny owl chick. It was around 6 weeks old at the time. During the fi rst week in September on arrival at Muirshiel Centre the rangers noticed a poorly tawny by the roadside, which was then taken to Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue

Centre. The owl had a ring and we discovered it was the same tawny we ringed back in May! It had become disorientated after a collision and was having problems with its vision. Hessilhead restored it to full health and we are pleased to announce the owl was then released at Muirshiel Centre on the 26th September.
